Title: SATA 6 being recognized as SCSI controller in Windows 7
Post by: Changeup on November 26, 2011, 03:39:21 PM
Any ideas why my SATA6 HDD is being recognized as a SCSI device?  If memory serves me, I would rather it be SATA6 right?

is your SATA controller actually a SAS controller which uses SATA connectors and drives maybe?

I believe this is because the controller is Marvell (or JMicron eSATA or similar) external to the MB chipset. Its just how Windows deals with that device controllers BIOS.

YES!!  The little Marvel thingy is in the icon tray...I want it gone.  So Marvel is causing this?

I cant be sure of course. I think if you disable it you will likely lose access to your drive.

Neither of those are in the device manager...I didn't set up a RAID drive.  The only item in there is IDE controllers
