Great, great, great Uncle was Lucky Luciano....yes, that one.
Mom's Dad flew with the 71st (B25's), Dad's dad was an instructor (P40s) at Luke Field and flew 51B's in Europe (44-45).....Dad spent two tours in Vietnam with the 173rd (O-2,3). I think that's infamous enough...btw, both Grandpas are still with us....91 and 96 respectively. Uncle Luciano is not...just sayin

<---direct descendant of Davy Crockett and the founders of Tangier Island Va. My uncles were famous for nothing but drinking too much. :salute

One Uncle is only famous in certain circles. He is now seventy-something. Made his living as a bounty hunter out West. His favorite move was to break their collarbone in one pop. He insisted it was the easiest way to end a fight before it began and they were very submissive afterwards, whining about going to a hospital or something like that. For many years in the 1970s and 1980s he captured a 'whos who' of bad guys. Even did a few trips in the high mountains on horseback for cattle rustlers, shocking enough. He was the original "Dog the Bounty Hunter" before it was cool.
His name was Ted. Even now, don't get him on your tail...you'll lose very time.

I don't have any famous uncles but my oldest brother went to high school with Bob Dylan. My dad was an infantryman in Europe in WWII then joined the Merchant Marines where he was an AA gunner. My middle brother was a medic in Korea but I think the closest thing he saw to action was fixing up the guys who hurt themselves falling down drunk well behind the front lines. :D

Won't mention the guy's ID...but since some player decided yesterday that simply because he did not recognize my ID that I "must be new", and ASSUMED that I knew nothing of the game...well, you know the old adage, if you assume you make a jackwagon out of yourself and....no...wait...he did a good enough job of that by himself.
Air Warrior Class of 1994
Moral of the story: It's always better to know the person and the facts rather than step into a pile in front of 100 other people.

50+
Ok, What's the average now?
-
I'm 35.
Brings the average to ~37.7 with some wiggle room depending on if you go with the age they're closest to if their birthday's soon.
This game is interesting in that I think you'd find a disproportionate number of old guys compared to most other games. I think a lot of the other MMO style games have way fewer old folks (say, 45+). Maybe I'm wrong on that, but I don't think so.
Wiley.

So Titanic3, are you taking the average? median? standard deviation?
Maybe all 3 if I feel like doing math. :D
It's nice to see such a big range of numbers. And I think this is probably the most amount of older players (30+) that I've seen in a game (percentage wise of course).

I am 28, be 29 on...........September 11 of 2012 :( I turned 18 on the very day of the attacks, and it motivated me something awful to join the united states Army. I did, and served as an infantryman, 11Bravo to those in the know. I did not see combat however, and was medically discharged :(
I don't have any 'famous' uncles, but my grandfather was a bit of a local celebrity. I am from Bath, Maine which is home to Bath Iron Works ship yard, building Aegis class Guided Missile Destroyers. During WWII, gramps was drafted into the navy at 19, went to basic and then, to his surprise, was ordered back home to Bath to await the commissioning of his ship, the Fletcher class DD Ingersoll. On their shakedown cruise, they sank a submarine off of Bermuda, and headed for the Pacific. From late 43 to the surrender in Tokyo Bay, his ship was involved in every major action of the Pacific war, earning the Presidential unit citation and 9 battle stars. During an attempt to tow a damaged cruiser to safety, an operation intended to draw out Japanese air power, his ship was heavily engaged by torpedo bombers. Several were destroyed, the cruiser was sunk but the trade for some of the last experienced bombers crews Japan had was considered worth it. He called the small band of ships involved the, "Streamlined Bait Division" but even decades later a hint of resentment at the Navy for using his ship and his mates at bait shone through the humor. During the bloody battle for Okinawa, his ship was part of the well know radar picket of destroyers deployed far from the main fleet to act as a screen for the carriers when Kamikaze attacks reached their height. Not being able to hit the larger ships after being detected by the screen and their assigned CAP, the Japanese started hitting the DDs on picket duty. Not since the Solomons had it been so dangerous aboard a DD. His ship was clipped by a Ki-61 Tony, and shortly after destroyed a G4M3 Betty and another unidentified enemy aircraft. They then stopped the ship, while being attacked, to reverse course for a crew man who bailed off the bridge when the Tony attacked. A dog the men had aboard lived the entire war without a scratch, only to be killed in Tokyo by a truck.
He was interviewed about his wartime experiences by the papers for a veterans day special, and after that he was even more well known in the community.

I find it interesting how there's only a handful of players under 20 compared to 20+.
Both good and bad.
Good that there's no squeakers (or a lot of them). :D
And bad because they're all busy playing mainstream games and I bet a few don't even know how a plane flies these days. :uhoh

19 here.
I don't know of any "famous" or even "Interesting" people in my family line, least not in most people's eyes. Never met him, but my Grandfather (mother's side) is the reason for my fascination with WWII history/aviation. I'm told he genuinely loved flying and telling stories from the War, would have loved to hear some of those.
Survived Pearl and the war but his last flight was a rough one, Aug 13 1945: "Took off from USS San Jacinto on a mission over Tokyo area. Damaged by fighters from the 302nd Kōkūtai, this Hellcat (78006) ditched in Tokyo Bay near Kisarazu. Rescued by OA-10 44-34080, but after take off was shot down by eight Zeros from the 302nd Kōkūtai."
