:rofl :lol that was awesome...excellent use of bumper vettes

Well as Jeremy Clarkson pointed out, corvettes still use leaf spring suspension and then claimed that the Brits haven't used leaf springs since the Romans showed up.
-
At first I thought the guy with the camera was a cop. That would have been great.

Before they take off you see a kid and his father cross the road. The small kid is on a bike. You also see a young adult go by on a bike.
My point is.... placing all these innocent folks in danger is not acceptable. These idiots could just as easily kill one of your kids or one of your parents.
The best thing that could come from this is their inability to drive again......

Now these idiots..... Well maybe having 500 brake horsepower on a 400 pound hayabusa is a bit excessive. @ 1:18 they start playing in traffic.

At least one turned of some off his nanny controls. The one who can't drive.

Agreed. Speeding situationally is one thing. Racing is another.
Wiley.

many moons ago, i used to run at front street in philly every weekend. for the most part, i was unbeaten, and my ex-wife will verify that. i stopped, when i saw a guy try to run from philly's finest. he caused an accident in which two people died. neither of those had anything to do with the racing. they were simply transitioning the area. that was more than enough to take the desire to street race out of me.

I think I'm a pretty decent driver but no way I'm going to unwind with other cars / pedestrians around. One unexpected move out of somebody and we have scrap metal and dead bodies all around. Thank you but no thank you.
Those fools on those motorcycles are going to make some nice statistics someday.
-
Those idiots on the bikes are also known as 2 wheeled organ donors. I have come across people like that when i was driving truck and one almost crashed into the side of my trailer. I was more worried about the innocent people around me more than myself.

:rofl :aok
-
dude in the c6 is a known parts scammer, karma.
-
at the end of the bike video notice the speedo, says 289, im assuming thats KPH, which equals roughly 180 MPH (give or take :headscratch:), and the other bike blows by him like its standing still. if you wipe out at that speed you are nothing more than another skidmark. these guys are stupid. the sad part is they'll probably kill somebody else when they go. those bikes shouldn't be legal for just any moron to purchase.

i used to know a guy that claimed he had his hyabusa up to about 205mph out on rt295. when we told him he was asking for death, he laughed it off. rather coincidentally, he killed himself with pills about 7 months after that.

I knew that area looked familiar! That is in the woodlands over here near Houston... I feel so proud of my city....not really....

What, for 200 feet?
-
So is the guy in the left lane partly responsible because he was participating in the race?
-
I remember when "Fast and Furious" (Fast 4) came out. A group of us went and saw it on opening night, so the theater parking lot was packed with only one enter/exit. As we were coming in, the previous showing was letting out and everyone was peeling out and acting like idiots.
Later, when we came out, we were one of the first to exit the theater. As we pulled out, our headlights shone across the hood of a state trooper tucked up into the woods opposite of us. He had the sneakiest ambush spot I had ever seen. The car behind us wasn't so observant and peeled out screeching his tires. We laughed our heads off as flashing blue lights illuminated the darkness.

hey!!! the beegees ain't all thaaaat bad...... :noid

Pretty much.

That is not the woodlands. Watch again and you'll see where they cut through hillsides to level roadway. There are small cliffs on the right side in one shot.
I'm thinking this is oversaes somewhere.

Who else buys corvettes aside from Americans? All I can come up with is maybe Canadians.

anyone that wants an affordable supercar i'd imagine.

Aside from americans, that would be the Porsche 911 but all I know about fast cars is what I've seen on top gear (BBC) and what I've come across here in Iowa on my Ninja.

corvettes are beautiful cars. 911's? they look like pregnant cockroaches, and sound like a loud uncontrolled fart. vettes cost less, and give more. given the choice, i'd take a vette any day.
-
Oh don't get me wrong I'd take a vette over a 911 anyday. I prefer my engine up front where they belong.
-

Europeans that can afford them.
We were referring to the motorcycles not the vettes. :)

ORLY? do you know how many vettes were sold in europe last year?

i guess it couldn't have anything to do with crazy pricing over there?
http://www.globalmotors.net/corvette-zr1-will-cost-over-214000-in-europe/
-
different pricing, roads, driving styles, tastes etc...
1,200 vettes total for europe in 2007 is even lower than I thought. the only US car I see sometimes in the UK is the 300C (which is on an old merc chassis iirc), cool looking car :aok
edit: btw in 2007 porsche sold ~13,000 911s in the US.

that doesn't say much....the chrysler 300c is a pretty big joke. ugly, poor handling, slow.
-
hey dont dis the 300C! its one of the few cars you guys sell in europe, its an export! (which is a good thing :))

Yup the US has wide roads and lots of room. Heck just driving across Texas is the equivilent of driving through several countries in europe.
A friend of mine had visitors from Germany. He took them to San Antonio for the weekend to visit Sea World. They had been driving for about 3 hours when one of his friends spoke up and asked if they were still in Texas. He answered yes, we are only going half way across Texas to get to our hotel. They were amazed at all the open land and cattle. They said they now understood why we have cupholders in our vehicles. lol

Proof that stupidity is alive and well

btw do you think the guy in the RH vette has worked out yet that slamming your ride on the lowest, stiffest springs you can find (with probably the cheapest dampers), the biggest rims that will fit and with the biggest spacers available may make it look sweet, but doesnt do much for traction? :D
-

I think he blames everything but the loose nut behind the wheel. lol

ahhh ok.
The Houston C&C used to be at Uptown in Houston. It had to move because of stupid folks like this doing burnouts leaving the meet.
Houston C&C is now on the NW side. I might be there this Saturday with some of our Camaro Club. I will definitely be at Woodlands C&C Sunday with the Club.
I will be in my Chevy 2500.

IT'S Pretty easy to stop the morons that insist on doing burnouts leaving those shows.......simply make it clear that they will be banned from future shows.......

It's a meet not a show. They are held on public premises so banning is impossible. All you can do is preach safety and ask everyone to not act like an idiot leaving.
