Anyone have any idea what this is all about?
Maybe a prelude to a heavy lift?
-
That would be my guess since their are chains on both sides.
Nice pic though.

The tracked vehicle is conducting en-route refueling, nothing special.
-
Maybe it's jump starting the -53? You know the old "put it in 2nd gear and pop the clutch!" thing :D

That was my second guess but I thought the refuel-53's had the extra big side pylon thingies :headscratch:

I'd have to agree.

And within seconds, Tobias quickly figured out why parking was so cheap that Saturday. :rofl

When these guys do control-line model aircraft they don't play around.
-
the hose usually drags in back. not in the front, unless the chopper got excited.

Not sure what country that vehicle & uniforms are from. Not ours. Plus the dust would be just as bad for the photographer as it is in the background. I say shopped.
-
Looks like a 'Nam-era APC with a Navy chopper. I was thinking Marine unit but the boots are wrong.
-
It looks like a soviet type APC or command vehicle to me. HST means something, but my memory is shot.
Most of the army guys I worked with were Hemtt towtruck operators. I think one told me about HST while
describing his adventures hauling Iraqi wrecks back for displays or museums.
He said he once looked inside a knocked out BMP, what he saw ensured he never felt the urge again.

HST - Helicopter Support Team.
It ISN'T Photoshopped as the Helicopters the USMC/Navy use for these teams are CH-53 Echoes. My cousin was an Airframer at Pendleton on them.

Thanks Kar...was driving me crazy trying to figure it out :aok
-
The helo had control problems and was being towed to a repair hanger.
-
Maybe it was this guy because he's no longer trusted to take fuel from an airplane?

I can tell because of the pixels. :p

I simply thought that the lighting, scale and lack of dust near the Marines atop the vehicle were a bit off.
Of course since Karaya's cousin worked on helos at some point in time, then this picture MUST be real.
Back to your regularly scheduled foolishness.
