Good swift kick and that coyote wouldn't have stuck around. On the opposite side down here in Alabama when we see them we shoot them. They are beginning to get like Armadillos around here; all over the dang place.

DNR officers in NW Iowa and SE South Dakota encourage farmers and hunters to shoot them things on sight.  They are chasing out the gray and red fox in the area, which are otherwise native to the area and are shy of people.  Also, it is getting more and more common for farmers to lose a calf or 2 a winter to coyotes.

I enjoy hunting them, I call them in to within 200 yards or so with a caller and let 'em have it with a .22-250.   :aok

I remember as a kid in Kansas there was a bounty on coyotes -- I think it was $2 for the ears.  My uncle would hunt them with dogs.  He had a dog box on the back of his pickup.  The box was setup with drop down door all of which could be released by pulling a handle (happened to be the handle off a T-10 reserve parachute) in the cab.  The technique was to drive the prairie looking for Wily, when you spot him drive, sometimes quite friggen fast, to get in a good position to release the dogs (the dogs were "sight" dogs, they had to see 'em to find 'em).  When released the dogs would chase them down and kill them.  The dogs were mixes, a lot of greyhound --- the pups could fly!!

Brutal, not sure I approve of it, but it was sure as heck exciting.

In Wyoming a lot of guys go "Doggin'" for Coyotes. Basically they use a team of two or three small to average sized dogs to lure coyotes within shooting range. The intial calling is made with an old police siren, which for whatever reason coyotes love howling back at and come to check it out. If you want to check it out go to the website xbandits.com and search for Dogging Coyotes. One of the guys in that video was my boss when I was 15/16 and worked for the county. We had to hike the local ranches and find/spray noxious weeds, but we also had to report to him the location of any coyote dens we happened upon. Lazy ol' bast...   :lol

Here in Texas its open season year round! They're fun to shoot to.

My grandfather has been having some majot troubles with a couple on his farm. They seem to have mated with some kind of large domestic dogs and there are 2 huge coyotes out there. They don't seem to have much fear of humans and are more aggresive than normal coyotes. Needless to say they are prime targets.

There's also some bobcats out there that have their colors reversed. Instead of being grey with black spots they're black with grey spots.

Those would make a nice jacket :t

Trying to figure out what I would do with a coyote if we got one. :headscratch:
