after a 70+ hour work week, i finally get a chance to log on, up a GV blow stuff up, only find the Mindao, with no place to spawn a tank, anywhere.
:bhead
yes, a whine has been recorded.
again.

What about the other 2 arenas?
-
only 2 players in the other arenas : :rofl
-
What about the other 2 arenas?
empty? ;)
-
HTC could add in spawns to existing maps...
-
Yesterday's map is by far my favorite map... don't retire it!
-
Why haven't you made a GV friendly map yet? It's your responsibility and you have no one to blame but yourself.
-
Considering the large number of players that GV and the recent changes in the GV system (not withstanding all the new GV models); it would make sense to make the maps more GV friendly. Just add in more spawns and voila, done. They did after all, change the strat system on every single map.
p.s. I'm not a Gver, but can see that they promote fights - ground and air. The more places they have to spawn in, the better the chance to spread the horde. Even if only a little bit.
-
I find all the maps GV friendly and can drive to HQ or the city in all late war maps.

Thats the truth. :aok

Yeah......let's make it so you are magically transported to where you would normally have to drive.
-
how about a game called ACES HIGH, not stuff in the mud. up a fighter and have some fun :aok

The map that is on right this very minute is not. Gv friendly

Yeah......let's make it so you are magically transported to where you would normally have to drive.
As you probably know you only spawn close to a base you still need to drive to the base.some bases r a 5 to 10 minute drive---which to me is ok

There are quite a few players that enjoy vehicle combat. Maybe they're all waiting for somebody else to go to the other arenas first. :headscratch:

In practice, that doesn't work ;)

I'll bite on this one. How is it his responsibility?

He can make a new map that meets his requirements if it is such an issue.
I found a couple of places to gv on Mindino a few days ago. Then, I got bombed. :rofl

you mean its NOT called Aces High?!? perhaps YOU need to read the front page again.

Agreed, he can make one if he so wishes. I was just questioning why it is his responsibility. Big difference to volunteer, or have it as your responsibility. :salute

I read it and here is a quote from the page;
"High fidelity flight simulation is the heart of Aces High but it doesn't end there. A war rages on the ground and at sea. Engage enemy armor in tank combat. Protect your fleet as a gunner or make a torpedo run in a PT boat. Lead an assault in an amphibious vehicle."

I'm pretty sure you can go blow stuff up. You probably wouldn't get bombed too often either.

Until he states otherwise, I assume the OP is looking for a battle :)
And unfortunately, hopping into an empty arena won't simply start one. They weren't empty if it were otherwise...
-
Mindanao [the major island that makes up the south Philippines] a horrible map for the MA. It is the only map in the rotation that I truly dislike. There is nothing balanced about the map what-so-ever. It is the worst map for gv battles just as the OP pointed out. If HTC will allow this wretched thing to be a map, then I emplore someone to take one of the many fine maps tha are used in the SEA's (Karelia comes to mind right away!!!) and plop a bunch of bases in a pie pattern and introduce them in to the MA rotation. There are some very fine maps that hardly see any usage, and getting them in to the MA would get them the justice they deserve.
Mundane... er... Mindanoa is horrible. Period. I sincerely ask HTC to remove it from the rotation.

most likely due to the number of players using medical mj.

He said he was looking to blow stuff up. I'm willing to guess other people felt the same way. An empty arena will of course remain empty until the first player logs in. It's not like WW1 arena where there isn't much to do until another player shows up. In the main arenas you can take a vehicle and blow stuff up. With all the players in GV's these days it's easy to imagine enough for a good fight, all deciding not to go to midwar, and just logging off.
Aces High presents various challenges. :D

And it will still be empty for most purposes after that. I have played in EW long enough. Even with three to four players you are still for the most part "alone" , and that kind of gameply is not what the most of us are looking for. We are looking for multi player action. Large battles and stuff :D
To ask a single player to do what actually would require a general action by the community is quite a demand. Fine in theory, but sucks practically - because for the most part it simply won't work. Especially as the total numbers at the time the OP was posted, the total population (all arenas) is quite low. And see all the failed attempts to get things going in other arenas which we do know that many players actually would like to do.
At the end of the day, most players will congregate in LW, particularly at low population times. That's our "playground", and I do understand (to some extend) when someone is frustrated by having certain important gameplay aspects excluded by the map currently up.

Agreed. This map is a POS and I refuse to play on it. Everytime I see it up I log right back out. Should have NEVER been brought back.

Meanwhile, in your absence, I am happily destroying stuff with ground vehicles all over that map.

my bad--it was supposed to say ---it's not just a flying game

it always seems that most GVers just want a nice easy (boring) spawn to camp, and preferably no possible chance of air support clearing them out

With this map, if you've been Knight for the last 2 days (I don't know about today as I haven't logged in) you have had ZERO bases that have a GV spawn into an enemy base for almost the entire time that the map has been up. We organized a couple of raids and took A1 on the rook front, and got us a GV spawn, and created one heck of a huge, hellacious battle. Unfortunately when I logged back in later on that day A1 was back in rook hands, and Knights were back to having not one single spawn to an enemy field.
I don't really care to camp a spwn, and I'm not really a good camper, anyway. I like driving a GV to a field and starting a fight more than camping.... and with this map that is very rarely possible.
I could care less about the map one way or the other, otherwise.... just add in some more stinking GV spawns fer heavens sakes.
-

I figured you just left a word out but I couldn't resist. :D
-
The shore at A-5 had a good gv fight on it !
I agree tho that spawns could and should be added before any maps are thrown out, although it will be hard to fix this one!

You might try a game not flight oriented or check out all that Aces High has to offer. Do not limit yourself.
Yesterday there were about 40 in MW.
-
not in Mundane... er... Mindanao you aren't.
On that map, I routinely spawn into V65 from A1 and drive to the strats to shoot up the city.
I enjoy the challenge and the fact that I can usually expend my ammo and successfully land the tank because the enemy never expects that someone had driven a tank any further than spawn to field on that map.
Difficult and impossible are two totally different things and the "mundane mission" guys are limited by themselves rather than the map.
-
Man, I feel horrible that you made yourself miserable by limiting your choices to the easiest part of the game and then there was just no way you could have actually taken off in a plane. Oh wait, you can't spawn camp in a plane.

I never said Air Combat was not the main focus of Aces High. I just read what the creators put on their website. If anyone thinks this game is only about air combat, then I would question their ability to read and comprehend.
Next time I'll quote the entire page.

Ok. You are all correct. I have no idea how to play in ground vehicles. I have no interest in learning them either. Yes, I am always disrespectful, admonishing gv players to get a plane at every opportunity. I only want more people flying. Please accept my apology, it was selfish of me, it will not happen again.

No apology is necessary. Every one is entitled to play the part of the game they want to. I happen to like both flying and GVing. When I get bored with one, I do the other.

I find all the maps GV friendly...............
I can find a few to bomb just about anytime I want too.

No worries Zoney, only busting your chops a little. Just some harmless fun :neener:
Everyone plays the game as they like it. I support it all and spread the wealth by GV'ing, bombing, doing ground attacks, and furballing.
oh, and it will likely happen again ;)
