Do you really think OK State would be able to stay on the field against anyone outside of the Big Choke conferences???? Yeah you started it so here we go again; the only time any school in RECENT history from the Big Choke conferences have hammered the SEC in the National Championship games was when Nebraska hammered Florida 62-24.

Oh and don't give me this stuff about Boise or anyone else being competition for either LSU or Alabama this year.

agreed on that one they didnt use the clock well on there last drive worth a crap,( USC game). 30 more seconds which could of been saved with there 3 time outs they might have gotten either a touchdown or a closer feild goal attemp, but still i'm pleased with there season, they are one fun team to watch play though. oh well on to the Rose Bowl we go.

How can Bama be the best team if they lost to LSU?  Bama had thier chance, OSU would be a equal match to LSU.

Yea they did, but the fact still stands. How can you say that Bama is the best team when they lost to LSU? I guess Bosie State was the best team in the pass when they were undefeated.

Few years back when both TCU and Boise St make the big dance and instead of allowing two Cindarella games they have them play each other. What a crock! The BCS was created in concept after BYU won the national championship in 1984. It was specifically designed to ensure the championship never left the big conferences again. It leans heavily towards SEC and Big 10 with the PAC12 getting the Rose Bowl.

It is a cartel. Pure and simple.

Bama isn't the best team, LSU is.  But Bama is the second best team when their resume is stacked against the closest competitor's, OSU.  They have higher quality wins top to bottom than OSU does, and their one loss was by three points to the #1 team.  OSU's one loss was to a crappy Iowa State team late in the season.  Close but no cigah.

OSU's  loss to ISU  killed them no  way they should play LSU. Alabama is  the  best team to play, even if i have to listen to  all the  "Team SEC" tards here in Georgia crow  about LSU/BAMA  part 2 it will be interesting.

Yea, Bama and LSU would bet OSU by 3 touchdowns...

No one said that bama is the best team, but they are defiantly the 2nd best team.

And considering that IF...just IF our kicker wouldn't have choked, Alabama would have won that game.

With the current system we have now, the two best teams in nation should play for the championship regardless of what conference they belong to. The question that is the most critical and most subjective is "who" exactly are the two best teams in the nation.

LSU is number 1, no doubt. The controversy seems to be centered on who rightfully deserves the number 2 spot: Bama or OSU. As far as strength of schedule goes, Both AL and OSU played four ranked teams during the season. Alabama played two additional teams that were ranked at least once during the season to OSU's three. I've been playing around with some numbers. For each of the top three teams, I looked at their schedules up to this point. I gave a value of 26 to every non-ranked opponent at the time LSU, Bama or OSU played them and then summed up all of the games played based on rank. I then averaged out the sum by the number of games played and found that LSU had a schedule strength of 17.46, Alabama was 21.5 and OSU was 22.25. Coupled with OSU's one loss to an unranked Iowa State, I say Bama edges them out as the 2nd best team in the nation. This is just what I've been messing around with, the BCS has a much more comprehensive system which of course is what this debate is all about.

Here is a tournament system I thought of that also implemented the four main BCS bowls:

1) All NCAA division I FBS teams are divided into 8 national conferences. (For kicks, lets designate them the Big 12, Big ten, Pac 12, Mountain West, Atlantic Coast, Big East, Southeastern and Sunbelt conferences).
2) For the Western division, The Big 12 and Big ten conference champs play each other in the Rose Bowl; The Pac 12 and Mountain West conference champs play each other in the Fiesta Bowl. For the eastern division, The Atlantic Coast and Big East conference champs play in the Orange Bowl; The Southeastern and Sun Belt conference chaps play in the Sugar bowl.
3) The winners of the Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl play off for the Western division title at one of the two locations; The winners of the Orange Bowl and Sugar Bowl play off for the Eastern division title at one of the two locations.
4) The Western and Eastern Title winners meet to determine the national champion at one of the four locations.

The problem is all of the smaller bowl games. Everyone wants a slice of the earnings that they bring in so we cant get rid of them now.

Oak, do you remember what happened to Ohio State and Michigan in their bowl games that year after that so called great game that featured zero defense?

Florida 41 - OhioSuck University 14
USC 32 - Michican't - 18

Just another case of Big being overrated.

Here's something that the tin foil hat crowd hates to see.

They'd rather stomp their feet and yell about the SEC's evil deeds to keep us from a playoff.

Quote
"There was no vote taken, the commissioners said, but the leaders of the Big East, Big 12, Pac-10 and Big Ten made it clear they didn't want to move the BCS toward a playoff in any way."

+1 grizz! Oklahoma State can't stop a cold and for whatever reason it comes down each year to the computers which obviously have big love for the Big Choke conferences...aka Big 12 and Big 10. Those two conferences aren't at the same level as the SEC and now the Pac 12 is coming on in speed. It is funny though that the coaches in the Big Choke conferences like Stoops, Pelini, etc... all have ties to the SEC teams and have coached there at one time but seem to be unable to tap back into the player base that is down here to recruit the type of players that have won so many national titles.
