The way he demonstrated it, it looks to me ready for manufacture, at least the easy bits, but probably 15 years away. Could you imagine the night vision googles without battery's.

This is a totally different night vision, everything would be normal color instead of green be pretty sweet, we are on the verge of a ton of different technologies. Not to mention this technology of not running out of power would enhance space travel and using the electron which could be a new technology to reach new unbelieveable speeds in aircraft. exciting! to think about

Nano Tech power generation would be declared unsafe with dangerous by-products by lobbyists so the tech could be suppressed and the status quo could be maintained.  Or the greenies would find something disagreeable that is an affront to their beliefs/sensibilities and launch a campaign to discredit and/or destroy scientists that are involved with development. :noid Something along those lines seems to happen more often that not when it comes to cheap and efficient power generation.

I love the concept, but I think power companies would shoot it down because its "free" energy, and because thousands employed at power plants would find themselves without a job.

That being said, who knows what opportunities could arise from this?

I see this in large-scale use in about 30 years

My cynicsim knows no bounds and I agree  with you all, there some one blocking this, or slowing it greatly, lets hope some sort of sanity prevails.

I agree with what you have said look at gasoline power cars when were fully capable of running solar/battery operated cars, however one thing they will never think of is that since the power is free look at how much extra money we would be spending on the economy which would produce probably more jobs then what was lost from the power companies.  Either way I wish politics didn't play a factor in our evolution but unfortunently it does.

If they can do all that then expect nanotech artery cleaners at some point in the future which will be deposited into your veins and arteries to remove plaque and cholesterol buildup. Thereby extending human life by who knows how much...which will allow us all to keep eating RED MEAT!!!! YEAH BABY! Oh but that will not work either because the pharmaceutical companies will shut that down and keep it from making it to the public and so will the FDA because what would happen if the nanotech things went rouge and started fixing all the problems that were wrong with you and multiplied within your body....that would be cool and weird all at once. I volunteer to be the first human nanotech experiment in case they do go rouge they can fix all the problems.
