Title: Just Curious
Post by: Slade on December 10, 2011, 08:45:55 AM
Has anyone ever won high score flying a Spit 1, Spit 5, Hurricane, A6m, C202, F4F, BF-109e, BF-109f, BF-109g, P-51b, Brewster or I-16 where flown at least 90% of their sorties?

I imagine it would be possible flying the Bf109F-4 or later or P-51B.  Maybe the Spitfire Mk V or A6M5b.  The rest would be rough or impossible.  Kills per time would be the back breaker.

Spit V could be possible... years ago, with a much smaller plane set and more ammo, the V was among the top fighters. The 109G ain't improbable too, particularly the G-14 is basically as good as any other late war ride for that.

Just curious.

Did it with a C.205 last tour, and working on it in a P38J this tour.

I'm willing to bet the "high score" goes to the players and planes that can pick-and-run the best (P51's, Tempest, La7).  There are a few that are brave enough to take the slower aircraft that instead of picking and running they stand and fight.

If you don't fly the plane it's not going to magically get kills

Picking and running leads to K/T scores too low to compete for the top spot.
