Why would somebody make a commercial like this?

In 2007 the PS3 was as much a movie playing device for the Blu Ray aspect as a game console. For a long time there was no better Blu Ray player on the planet than the PS3. This commercial was intended to shock, be memorable, and most of all appeal to lovers of cinema, particularly horror cinema.

Maybe we're supposed to think that the PS3 created that commercial, to show how powerful it is?
Wow, thats a pretty crappy commercial if you ask me (and most dont)
That being said a PS3 is an immensely powerful pc. I'm not certain they did a very good job of showing that though :uhoh

The USAF thinks it's a powerful PC. The 33rd largest super computer in the world right now is the US Air Force Research Laboratory's newest system. At the core of the system is 1,760 PS3 consoles, making the "Condor Cluster" the fastest interactive computer in the entire US Defense Department.
