Wife bought me this in a local store - got curious as to who/what/when, but can't find any information on it.
Anyone know?

Wow that is one of the older sailor's brackets invented for little known Upper Peninsula War (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Upper_Peninsula_War) highly rare and collectible. You could easily get a few thousand for that.
Yeah, but seriously no idea what that is.

A Lilliputitan naval trombone? :D
-
Looks like some sort of tie clip for a uniform?
-
Yep, its a tie clip, was more interested if anyone knew where from. Curry, you owe me a desk clear up ya sod!!

Royal navy? Looks like a crown over the anchor.
-
Wings suggest a naval aviator.
-
The what looks like "crossed rifles" might also be an airborne unit...
-
UK Special Forces maybe?
Royal Navy, Airborne wings, the crown.
-
US Navy or Marines Aviation Observer (or crew member). Maybe a door gunner?
-
Posting a large, up close picture will help. :aok
-
napkin holder from diningroom table set from a ship was my first thought. Tie clip?..yeah but looks pretty big for a tie clip :headscratch: you sure it's a tie clip?
-
A chastity/birth control clamp for when they hit a port and the Sailors hit town?
 Oz

Need a better close up Wurz
-
rifles, wings and anchor suggests combined arms. didnt the canadian forces combine into one arm fairly recently? :headscratch:
edit: theres a crown too so I'm going to guess Royal Canadian Armed Forces insignia :)
-
I'll try and get a better pic, having to use camera phone as my camera has bit the digital big one.
Thanks guys,

My Grandfathers best friend wore a tie clip very similar to that (foggy memories from years ago). He was the gunner in my Grandfathers Fairey Swordfish.
-
Slightly bigger pic - can't get the damn phone to focus right this close, I suspect user error lol....

Badge for a single man recently married.
Wings = single
Anchor = wife

What's and 'ancow'? Is that Flemmish for 'wife'?
-
LMAO Shuff you total bastage - wife was reading over my shoulder when I opened that up - it appears I could be in the doghouse......again ;)

The more i stare at this image, the more frustrated I get. The wings look American, the badge looks British and the crossed rifles look Australian. wtf?

Look here, this may be the answer

They aren't Royal Navy wings.
-
Check the back and around the inside of the clasp for any kind of letters or marks. This might help identify it. The marks can be very small and hard to see, so use a strong light and magnifying glass if need be.
-
Maybe a royal fleet air arm air gunner badge with marksman rating.

That's like the definition of Canadian right?
-
Agreed Tinman, frustrating, yet oddly intriguing - what can I say, I get curious about the strangest things. I've sent a pic off to the RAF and Naval Museum in the UK, see if they have anything on it.
Mind you, once I find out what/who it represents, I'll probably have to start trying to figure out how it came to be in a local shop in the middle of the Mojave Desert lol........
The wings definitely do not appear to be of a UK origin, yet the anchor and crown look like RN - the crossed rifles, no idea.
Kilo, I'm leaning towards it be Canadian possibly now - hopefully the museums can come up with some info.
