Title: What are kill points?

I was ranked in the top 50 for a bit in kill points and I have no idea how you get them. I've never had as many kill points as I do this tour. Any ideas?

Kill points are essentially damage points - it's the amount of damage you inflict on enemy planes + one single point for the actual kill (thus a proxy kill will get you 1 point).
Last time I checked the arena average was like something 100 kill points per kill, but that number is highly variable - bombers will yield much more kill points due to their durability.

Thanks guys. Weird how my kill score is 4 times what is has been.

Last tour you had avg 95 kill points per kill in fighter mode, this tour its ~112 so far. I don't see anything special  :headscratch:

Is a higher average points per kill indicative of anything?

Not really. Often it's just a result of having shot down a few more bombers or heavy attack planes or  having a higher numbers of assists. But 112 to 95 is a very small variation anyway that hardly stands out from statistical background noise.
Just for comparison, I had 208 pts per kill last tour, but I'm a bomber killer by trade. ;)

There is no real "better" with this number (points/kill), as someone getting loads of assists but only very few kills will have a very high one too ;)
And this is apparently the reason why your points per kill had indeed been somewhat lower in tour 142 - TWCDmeat had 2.7 kills per assist, you had 7.9.
