Not sure if anyone hates their bank and wants to switch to a new credit card, but Discovercard is on the ball IMHO. Someone stole my credit card number sometime in the last week or two, and went so far as to build a fake card with my number on it. They tried to use it today and discovercard detected the fradulent charges within 2 swipes and shut the card off during the second fradulent use. Their fraud recovery people were very helpful going through the last month's charges to see if anything else was bad, and after cancelling my current card they're overnighting my new card to me at no charge.
Yea credit cards are "evil", but discovercard has been good to me and this is why I use it for pretty much everything. They're very good at halting fraudulent use before it becomes a real hassle to deal with, in addition to their regular customer service which has also been good to me.

Had the same thing happen with my WF card this past Thanksgiving. Money was replaced in two days.

from a business owner standpoint.....i do not accept discover, or american express. regardless of what they charge the user, they charge us nearly double to accept their cards. the people at american express are dicks. i know i shouldn't put that up here, but i had dealt with them, and between their extremely poor attitudes, and their stupidity....whelp....it could be considered legendary. i don't lose any business due to this, as 99% of the people carrying those cards also have visa and mastercard. the other 1% use cash or check. it doesn't cost me anything to accept those.
that all being said, glad it worked out for ya.

I can't possibly blame any business owner, especially small businesses, for not taking discovercard. The fees are pretty high. When I'm doing business with that kind of company, I often just pay cash so they don't even have to pay the smaller fee for debit card transactions.

Agreed...
I refuse Amex and Discover as well, for the same exact reasons.

I have a Bank of America card. Last year I get a phone call from them to do a "security check". She starts asking about some recent transactions, the first few which were here in Alaska either in hometown or where I moor the sailboat. But then comes a Shell station in smalltown Georgia. WTF!? I tell here that one wasn't me to which she replies "We figured that. You're card has been deactivated and a new card is in the mail for you and your wife. The charges will not be applied to your bill."
Cool.
