Title: 336th Fighter Squadron Recruiting
Post by: Shifty on December 29, 2011, 11:10:58 AM
The 336th Fighter Squadron "Rocketeers" is recruiting pilots. Currently we hold Squad Night on Tuesday nights at 8:00 EST in the LWA. We are an historically minded squadron that pays homage to the 4th Fighter Group and RAF Eagle Squadrons. Most squad nights we will operate aircraft actually flown by those units. During casual or non squad night flying members are free to fly whatever they wish of course. As far as Special Events Flying.. Currently we fly FSOs (Friday Squadron Ops) as part of 801 Fleet Air Arm and membership with that unit for FSOs is an option. We intend to start participating in SECs or (Sunday European Campaigns) as well as Scenarios over the next year. We accept any experience level from crusty old timers to guys new to the sim. Our requirements are you have a valid account and microphone. We prefer pilots 18 years or older but will give any applicant serious consideration. Pilots with an interest in the history of WWII aviation would find the 336th FS a great home. If you're interested in joining or want more info feel free to visit our website the link is in my signature block below or shoot me a PM.

Mustang driver now Shifty?  Good luck with the 336th.  While I'm partial to QP kites of the 334th, the 336th guys weren't bad either.  Considering who is in the squad, i do beg to differ about there being a 336th Intelligence Section however!  :)

Nice little book out there by the son of a 336th pilot killed during the war called "Delayed Legacy" by Conrad Netting

Did his bird as a profile a while back for fun

Of course Johnny Godfrey's book "Look of Eagles" is a must for a 336th guy.  I liked the look of his NMF 51B

Take it easy will ya! This is a recruiting thread. :D

Outstanding profile Dan! Yeah the 334th does seem to be the favorite of most 4th FG enthusiast. I know Fencer has had the QP killers in the past
and I wanted to leave that door open should they decide to return. Ponys Jugs Spits and Hurris we'll take it all the way back to 133 SQN.
Thanks for the info on the book, I'll add it to Frau Shifty's shopping list.  :salute

Shifty does a kickazz job with immersion and leading sorties. I'd highly recommend the 336th for allied enthusiasts.

We're on Knights currently Trukk, but I was kicking around the idea of getting together with you guys one night on one of your escort missions. The current membership is basically old AVA and FSO guys we're not extremely chess piece sensitive. ;)

Or it would be fun to do an all fighter mission.  For example one squad with P-47s loaded with bombs/rockets with the other with P-51s as top cover.

We prefer aircraft like the P-47D-11/25, P-38J, etc, so coming low off a target against Spit-16s, LA7s, Tempests, etc, it can be pretty tough to survive so having a flight of Ponies overhead to shoot them off our back would be a great help.
