What joystick and joystick/combo have you found to be the best?

Once I got past eh cheapie do you like this game part, I went CH all the way. Had the old analog stuff past it's prime and migrated to USB whilst converting my old analog pedals to USB to save a few bucks.

I've had a number of stick set-ups. See here http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,325168.msg4251623.html#msg4251623 for more info.

Saitek AV8R.  I'm left handed and it's ambidextrous, I like twisties and it's got dual throttles and a lot of buttons.

I use Saitek rudder pedals because the feet are spaced far enough to make it comfortable (4 years no problems). I use a x52 throttle. I had the whole x52 setup, but the joystick gave up, so I now use a CH Fighterstick. I also have a 16 button switch panel I made for the most common used game functions, because I hate using the keyboard especially for multibutton commands.

CH Products. Has quite a few buttons, requires a bit more coordination, built solid, and gives more control. Not a lazy man's setup for sure.

G940 for flying.. But I like the old Logitech X3Dpro for GV's, just works good!
Tried a friends rumble stick version on another game, worked great for tanks..
When my current X3D frags, (not long) I'm gonna try the rumble..

I would still love to play completely keyboard free, not there yet..

CH stick, Saitek pedals and a cheapie stick (Saitek Black Widow) for its included throttle and the extra buttons

CH sticks came highly recommended and after using mine I can see why! the CH pedals seem to have a bad design fault though and a lot of them break.

Logitech Extreme 3d Pro and programmable, 144-key cockpit key panel. See it here and watch the brief video clips. Works great, and relatively cheap to own.

G940 for flying..

When you decide that you require more precision and/or when your throttle starts doing goofy things take a look at the G940 mod thread here: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3323724/G940_MOD_Warning_large_picture.html (http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3323724/G940_MOD_Warning_large_picture.html)

If you want to see the junk the G940 is doing to you look at these videos:

Too uncoordinated for pedals, but tried both and prefer Saitek over CH.  CH sticks are better quality, but X-52 is much more comfortable.
Currently on X-52 #3 and have more fun than using any other setup.

Thanks, I haven't had any trouble yet, but I'm not hard on sticks..
Took a little while to get so many options sorted out, super sweet tho!
It adds a lot to the game for me.. Would be hard to go without it now..

It's not a matter of being hard on it it's a matter of cheap wiring that is a little too short being used in the throttle.

Also the "reversal bug" is a problem in the stick's firmware.  It's not a matter of it wearing down it's a matter of you noticing it.

Eventually you'll get to the point where you can't take it anymore and when that time comes you'll be wanting to mod it like I did.

I like CH Products the best.  I think they have the best feel, and they are sturdy and last a long time.
