I know there are some people here that remember when WWI was fresh and fun. Alot of people were in the arenas daily. Now, no one plays for a number of reasons. But I will bet that there are a few people that would hop into WWI for a few flights if there were people in there to fight. I am targeting those people.
What I would like to do is have an organized WWI night one night a month for about an hour or so. The day will be the fourth Friday of each month. So, January 27th around 10 PM EST all those who would enjoy a sortie or two flying wood please join me in WWI arena. I figure no one can get burned out if it is just one night a month and hopefully those that do participate can look forward to it. I also encourage all FSO pilots to come for that is the off FSO night.
I hope this ignites a few people. My main goal is a modest 15 people in the arena at one time. This is not a lot of people but in a WWI dogfight it is a furball. I hope to see some of you there :salute

I'm game.

There was a hardcore group of WW1 guys a lot of them have been spirited away by pms requests for emails to join a mailing list and Rise Of Flight, the main gripe I heard was No 1 the DR1 flight model (which is now revised) No 2 The lack of development or even hint at any sort of development and its been nearly 2 years I guess they were right in that respect.
Even in recent days I have seen 13 in there and some very good action, numbers build numbers, the more who are in the more likely others will come in. I can't promise to attend as I think for me that would be around 4 am GMT? But if I'm up I'll attend.
-
If there was 5-6 guys in there Id always pop in...ww1 is good fun.
-
I love WWI planes
-
This sounds like a great idea.
-
I would enjoy that. If I'm around, I'll try to make it for a bit.
I get most of my WW1 fix from Rise of Flight though.

You should contact HTC and ask them to announce it on 200 30 mins before start.
-
What about an axis vs allies death match!?  That would be fun
-
I pop in regularly with DES but it's usually when most other players are asleep and the MA is dead boring, we usually get one or two other guys in there as well. We generally tune to 285 across all countries and just drink a few beers and have fun with it, so if you're up late or early have a look and see if we're there.
-
Most of my WWI flying is in Rise of Flight as well. But, I feel bad abandoning AH because of lack of participation. That is the same reason why most people dont go in there. This way we can fix an occurring problem one night a month. Ill advertise more the closer we get.

I would have went to RoF and gave it a go but looking at the screenshots and bearing in mind I can barely run Aces High graphics over 20 fps I don't fancy my chances of it being playable on my machine + I's have to put up with zack1234 talking about pies.

I wish you guys would host these type of things on a sat or sun night once in awhile. :frown:

:aok +1 I have a short memory. I always look for #s in the WW1 arena and sometimes will jump in if a see a few. I guess thats the problem we are all waiting for someone else.

Great idea. But, I do not think HTC would let me announce anything giving my reputation...
I know alot of CM's though :) The feedback is good, this is definitely happening. Uptown, we can arrange something.

The Community needs more of this type of thing. I hope it pans out.

For you Saturday people, how is second Saturday and last Friday of each month?
-
I used to visit the WWI arena quite frequently. I was always trying to drag Devil5O5 and Ace8 in there, but then they started spewing some nonsense about a lack of fights.
Hell, one time, we got the WWI arena population upto 15 or 20, which is plenty for a good fight.
Another plus to the WWI arena, the people there are always very respectfull. I've never failed to recieve a return <S> after either making a kill or being one.
Fights are a lot.... cleaner... than in the MA's as well. None of that picking and hording doctrine practiced by some of the less savory squadrons in AH.
-
WW1 is fun because the airfields are close together. So, it is easy to get into a fight quickly. Climbing to 20,000ft isn't an advantage... Sure altitude can be an advantage, but more then 1 or 2 thousand feet above your foe really doesn't help you much... There aren't many one shot insta-kills... Sure a .303 to the noggin will end the sortie for you, that's pretty much the only 1 shot kill...
I'm looking forward to this event!

Maybe a WWI KOTH event (or something similar?)

No. Let the KOTH CM's deal with that. WWI need not be contaminated by KOTH doctrines.
