New thread, post anything you want!
Been having fun with a highres texture pack, and started a private server with my brother.

Wow that looks pretty damn good. Have you seen the realistic water mod?

Nice little house Pigs. :)
I tried that Texture pack once but something about it always seemed off, almost like they went so hard for realistic it felt off. But no denying it looks darn nice!
We've had to rebuild in Omega since the last Minecraft thread. Had a Server Wipe with a new hosting service. Getting a new Hosting Service on Tuesday (more ram, upped player cap, better support) but keeping the map this time. :P

Okay... who built the Imp from Doom II?
-
That's ridiculous. How many people play there?
-
My new town on my private server, got 15 people who live here(http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h375/F35_LightningBravo/2012-01-06_175853.png)
Housing side of the town I have to keep expanding with MC edit to make room (http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h375/F35_LightningBravo/2012-01-06_180015.png)
Houses catch on fire often so we have a fire department, when the zeppelin mod comes out we will have flying water tankers and fire trucks on stanby, I rigged all the houses with redstone so if one catches and destroy's the redstone an alarm at the fire station sounds (http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h375/F35_LightningBravo/2012-01-06_180026.png)
Running the plane mod so we have a runway with runway lights and a huge hanger (http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h375/F35_LightningBravo/2012-01-06_180038.png)
We do sorta have an economy in a way (http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h375/F35_LightningBravo/2012-01-06_180048.png)

Zaytark (family) re-built it on the Server. He had made it before but alas, the server wipe...
That's ridiculous. How many people play there?
On our Server we have 16 people registered at the website, and about 20 or so who sign on with some regularity. Think the most on at 1 point was ~12, was confusing as all heck to keep up with as an Admin! :D
With any luck this new Hoster is our last change so we stop losing some people in the changes. We've changed Hosters 3 times now (including this time) since we started hosting online in ~February 2011.
If anyone wants to check it out the IP is 50.31.55.172:25565 | and we'll have the new Server open to public on Tuesday Night!

You use an outside host? I host straight from my computer, lol. But my comp can handle it, 8 gb, planning on putting in 2 more 2gb sticks, or changing out my 4x2gb for 4x4

Yea we're about to start using McProHosting. It allows better up-times and reliability vs locally. I know personally I don't want to run a server on my computer 24/7 even thought it could handle it. This way anyone can join anytime, even if our computers are off. :P

Ah. Does that cost anything?

Oh geez I know how ya feel there. We have to Download the map every so often and edit things anymore. Hoping the Importing Option we added doesn't come back and bite us with requests galore...
One thing I would love to have that yours has that we can't, Single Player Mods. Things like Planes are a highly requested mod and there's no Bukkit mod for it. :(
Pigs, the server hosted by a company costs monthly. We're upgrading to a $25/month but they go as low as $10/month.
A few of our Users seem to require PvP on occasion, so something a few of us built was a PvP Colosseum (bout all I did was build the enclosed obsidian Mazes):

I wish I could host my own server, well a large one, to much to keep up with honestly

Yup, broke college student here, lol.
I think adding memory to my computer and keeping it on 24/7 is better and cheaper, lol.

Umm pardon me for asking but what is the point of minecraft except a gigantic waste of time?
You build virtual lego blocks yeee. For what?
-
The same thing could be said about Aces High (except for saying that will get you lynched here). To me, I think they are both extremely enjoyable games that I play with friends. Only difference is that AH has had an impact on what I want to do with the rest of my life, while I play with friends I know in person on minecraft. Try playing the game with a non biased mindset before you knock it.
Also, these aren't Legos, legos don't have particle effects. :p

yall need to try and make some computing devices with redstone im was making a 4 digit calculator before my hard drive crashed.
here are some videos of other's

For me AH is about competition against live players and pretending to do a2a combat. In the beginning WB etc. were more roleplay/simulation, later on it became more a competition of skills.
On Minecraft I still haven't found a single thing that would actually look like fun. I'm trying to understand what it's about. Is there some kind of combat? :)

That's why ya get people to help! We have 3 Admins and 3 Guards to help keep everything in order (technically 2 Guards are AH players). :)
If we get near our player limit (30) I have the feeling it will overwhelm me, but we've never hit that.
Ripley, it's all a matter of personal opinion. As we've seen recently some people like Ponies and find it fun/funny. The rest of us think it's weird, or even stupid. Personally I can see how people can like it, or how people would hate it (As for Ponies I find it a bit weird honestly). Same with MC, I have fun so I see why people have fun, but at the same time I see that it's not exactly a deep game, so it's easy to see how people wouldn't like it. Can like or not, everyone has different tastes. :)

Well, if you're looking for A2A combat, no, Minecraft is terrible for that.

2 months ago I didn't even know they existed, guy who told me made it seem to gay, but he showed me a few funny bits and I just went with it. Now i'm going to drop this before it causes another problem haha
Are yo hiring adm's or Gaurds?

Think of Minecraft like a sketchbook that requires certain skills to use. Alot of patience to acquire your pencils, some planning to map out your picture, and then alot of fun bringing it to life. Alot of people find great joy in creating wonderful things in Minecraft, like a 1:1 scale replica of the Enterprise D from Star Trek. Others like making castles, some like taking the simple in-game circuitry (Redstone) And building massive complex circuits, calculators, even TV's with programmed shows. Or using minecarts and railways to build huge rollercoasters.
Minecraft is a creativity box, a fairly good one. With monsters if you want them there.
There are two modes. Survival (Monsters, have to go out and farm your materials/mine materials to make things) Which is pretty fun, I'm in the process of building a large Wooden Longhouse on a hill surrounded by a wall.
Then there is creative mode where you can fly and spawn in any material you want in order to create things without having to go and mine out a continent of land to find enough gold to create a 90 Ft. golden... object. :aok
There are servers with PvP, servers with cities, one server is a replica of New York City.
It's an interesting game, and probably the most addicting 20 dollars I've ever spent.
