I just installed a new cm212 chip cooler and my idle temps seem kinda high, CPU is an e8500 core 1 idles at 37c and core 2 at 31c. Is this normal?

Mine did the same. E8400 never had a problem.

According to this page over at Intel (http://ark.intel.com/products/33911/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-E8500-%286M-Cache-3_16-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB%29), the maximum temp for an E8500 is 72.4 C. So you are well within spec.

Cool thank you guys! :salute

my I5-2500k idles at 29,27,34,26. At 100% load running prime95 it runs 63,62,72,63 @ 4.8ghz my number 3 core is always about 7*c hotter than the other 3.

I did some stress testing tonight and my temps never went above 38c both cores.... Leads me to believe ones just hotter  that first core is a slut :-D

Processor cores are not made equal. You probably have a slight manufacturing defect on the other core. Not severe enough to make it fail quality control.

Change the cpu grease after a month or so and see if that makes a difference. For idle....both temps are fine.
Give one of the liquid cpu coolers a try like this Corsair model. You can order them from Amazon or NewEgg.

They make several models....different prices, depending on your needs, ect.
If you have a small case...........leave the cover off. That helps too.
