Title: Is this safe?

So, I plan on putting a second gtx460se into my machine, but when tinkering the other day, I noticed that I would really only have on option on my mobo to put it because of my sound card. Also, since you have to remove two of the back slats for the vid card, I've run into a slight problem; the I/O part of the card uses the absolute bottom opening, which mean that if I put it in, the vent part would be covered. So, would I have to do a case mod to get it to fit, or would it be OK to put the card in without any changes?

Use the top four slots for your two video cards.  Then use the bottom or the 2nd from the bottom for your sound card.

If not, it appears you bought the wrong case, because a 7 I/O slot case with a MB having Tri-SLI capability, is stretching it thin.   This seems like something that should have been caught before any of the stuff was purchased.

I wouldn't even mod the case if it won't work, sell it and get something better suited to your MB.

you do not want to use the very bottom PCIe x16 slot for your dual video setup if at all possible ( it is a x16 slot but is @ x4 speed )

if you have a PCIe  audio/sound card put it in the bottom PCIe slot

if you have a PCI sound card, then you might not be able to use it in a dual vodeocard ( SLI / crossfire ) setup  using the top 2 PCIe x 16 slots

you have a regular ATX Motherboard, it should fit just fine in that full tower case

what you need to realise and look out for is the 2nd Videocard and it taking up 2 slots which will kill any chance of using that PCI slot on the MB


( you have already stated what you have run into as a problem, you need to dump the PCI sound card and get a PCIe soundcard to use the the very bottom  PCIe x16 @ x4 speed, to make everything ok )

I would think about not using the sound card and using the built in sound. Now that may not always be an option due to limited resources. So give the built in sound a test to see if there are any stuttering problems. If so, go back to the sound card.

That's why I got the sound card. Guess I'll change it for a PCI-e  :(
