Title: iPhone
Post by: Penguin on January 14, 2012, 04:37:47 PM
I got an iPhone for Christmas, and I'm looking for some good, unbiased news sources that I can read (trying to keep data usage low) while sitting around.  Free or paid, it doesn't matter.  Within $20, money is no object.  Sources not to suggest include:

I already have Al Jazeera, and I love how it can give informed but objective insights into the world.  The journalism there is truly excellent.  However, I'm not here to spark a political debate, I just want a decent news source, so please, refrain from getting too wild about somethine being biased/unbiased.

If you prefer foreign news sources BBC World News has an app in the store. Free I believe.

It's not that I prefer foreign (but then again, I may like it, if you know what I mean  :devil ) just something that isn't full of filler (cat in tree, etc.).  I'm downloading the BBC app right now, though.

Sure you're not. Your last two threads smell like nothing but trolls to spark a political purse fight.

I'll try not to let PAK irk me too much.  It wasn't right to post like that.  However, I will get the Onion, I hadn't even thought about that one.

Best thing you can do to get completly unbiased news is to keep up with news from both sides. There isn't a news source out there that reports just the facts and doesn't support one side or the other.

Fox is pretty unbiased as far as accuracy of reporting goes, but I will admit it has a rather noticable 'starboard list' if you get my meaning.

Can't say about other networks, never heard of any left-leaning sources that are relativly bias-free, but that doesn't even suggest there aren't some.

However, if you are worried about data, dont be. I have had the iphone since mid July and have never even come close to reaching the 4gb yet and im on it quite often. Almost everywhere has wifi too.

I said that under $20, money was no object.  More specifically, that limit refers to a one-time purchase. Subscriptions are out of the question.

There is no such thing as unbiased news.
Either intentionally, or unintentionally, all sources have a bias, or more charitably, a point of view.

Read them all.  Weigh and average.
The truth is almost always somewhere in the middle.

You'll be topping your data plan out after viewing only a few family guy episodes.

You only tap your data plan when your not connected to a wifi.
