I'm one of the many here who will need to make a choice shortly of whether or not to add a second flight-sim game to my standard fare, with my usual Warbirds time.
I like AH so far, but my only reservation is that I have a hard time discerning what a con is doing, or even what direction they are moving, unless I'm right on top of them. I don't seem to have this problem as much in Warbirds. I'm flying in hi-res 3D, in 16 bit color.
Any other Warbirds' fliers having the same thoughts or experiences? Any suggestions on how to make things easier to see?

I think it's just a matter of getting used to the subtle differences in graphics. Took some time, but AH now "looks normal" to me, and I have no problem judging plane attitudes.
I think it might be tough to do well in both AH and WB, though, since the look, timing, and FM are quite different. (I haven't flown WB since coming to the Dark Side.)

Oh Naked One-
Use the "Z" key to zoom instantly in or out; this will allow you to get a quick peek at what an enemy is doing. I agree with Popeye, at first it was a bit tough, but it seems quite normal now. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

That's funny banana, cause for me it's the total opposite! I have trouble in WB seeing what con is doing, here no problem! Even without using zoom. I run both in hi-res also. But like dolo said, use zoom, helps immensely, mapping it to stick lets you go in and out quickly.

Ya know, when I was in WB in the HA, I could tell what plane type was long before we saw the icon. Hangtime and Iceman can verify that fact. In AH, I haven't noticed any subtle color patterns except for the 17 and 51 which can be id'd easily without icons. Mind you I ain't sayin DOTS. But in WB HA I could spot em out to D9 and D10 and call the type and in here I cannot... yet at least.

I'd like to see the planes made 20% larger, expecially since no one plays in 640x480...hell, the game runs better at 600x800 with the hi res art.
I realize that makes the planes easier to hit. Is there any reason we couldnt turn the lethality down to compensate? The graphics and damage model in this game is really good for a massive online sim...I'd like to be able to see the planes better.

You really don't realize the effect this would have on the rest of the sim do you? I guess we have to make all the objects bigger now. Oh, and the hills and mountains would all have to be bigger too. Now the bullets will be bigger. It's a house of cards... you can't just change something like that in a 3D world without screwing the whole thing up in very fundamental ways.
Just use the zoom key. Same thing.

That is why they're fighting all the time. The rooks want to be left alone when with their sheep.
Try Knights. We like sheep, but flying is one step higher on the priority scale.

Hehe, Udie. I always wondered where you disappeared to. Haven't had the pleasure of flying with or against you for a long, long time.
I have decided to open an account with Aces High, and see if it really will give Warbirds a run for it's money. I'm keeping my WB account active, too.
