Here's a link to marines that flew brewster buffalo's and F4F's during the Midway Attack, interesting notes - one pilot reports the Zero climbs 5,000 ft a minute, second one notes it flies over 450mph.

One thing I noted, every pilot pretty much wanted it say "Screw the F2A-3 and F4F", however it was clear the vulnerability of the Zero, assuming as one said "you can bring guns onto it"
