Title: Part whine, part idea
Post by: BaldEagl on January 16, 2012, 10:50:08 PM
I've been bombed every time I've tried to GV this camp.  It really takes the fun out of it and no tank is safe.

Oh sure, I know I know.  Have fighter support, have flak protection, etc.,etc., etc.  Well that's kind of hard as a lone wolf player.

The thing is GV battles draw bombt*>ds like sh*t draws flies.  And why?  Easy kills and your name in lights.  There's nothing easier in the game than dropping a bomb on a tank that can't defend itself from it.  Yet those that do are awarded the same perks, points and accolades as someone who dukes it out in a one on many fighter fight taking multiple scalps.  I have to ask who's more skilled or deserves the higher reward?

So here's the idea part.  Reduce the kills awarded for bombing tanks.  Count each as 1/4, 1/3 or 1/2 a kill with comensurate points and perks.  The guys who are there to legitimately break a spawn camp or fly air support for their GV's will still be there but I bet there won't be nearly as many of them.  It will take more than a couple of bombs to land two kills/sortie.  The GVers will have more fun and the bomblets will be rewarded comensurate with their skill level.

Flame on.

We were furballing over a tank battle not too long ago and had no intention of bombing anything.  That didn't stop the wirbles from blasting away at us.  Outside of having a separate spot for just GV action I don't think there will ever be a cure.  It's kind of like the folks who area always intent on taking the center island.  They will because they can.  Nothing can be designed in to stop it outside of making bases indestructible

What if HTC reduces the distance that aircraft can see GV icons?  Except for maybe a new scout aircraft that will not carry bombs but will have smoke markers...

 :D

Changes are coming, why don't we wait to see how they play out.

IIRC bombing gv's as a Bomber, IE: Lankastukas, don't score anything other than "name in lights".

It's almost the next best thing to griefing I suppose.

Anyway, I don't think it's a points issue.

What I meant is that the ranges to spot GV's ARE changing, it was specifically stated by HTC

I GV quite a bit and I don't seem to have this problem.  One thing you need to realize is that %99.5 of the MA can't hit the broadside of a barn, even with 1000lbers.  When there are enemy air cons overhead I will at the very least keep the engine running, and as soon as someone starts looking shady I get on the move.  When you're in a moving GV the ineptitude scale goes up into the %99.9999999 area, I always try to drive at top speed in the direction the enemy is coming from to make them overshoot, or at the very least give a turn in direction at the last second.

Also you should always carry a handful of HE so that after they whiff with the bombs you can shoot the ground under them as they try and strafe you.

I hear you BE.
Sometimes i just get rid of flying and im trying to find a good GV fight. When the battle is nearly even, i often can get 2-3 kills in a panzer4 before getting killed.
But every time i up a perked GV, i get bombed after 2-3 kills... guess i have a very bad SA...
Still, first time i upped a tiger1 this month, got one who is famous for saluting everyone he kills, then he upped a tempest (!) from his airfield being 40 miles away only to bomb me... then he saluted and started to brag about it for hours.

I really cant wait for the next version with the reduced, dinamic GV icon ranges... and BOING, another wish is soon to be granted?

If that happens every time, i would suggest not continuing to do it.

We should have reduced Plane Icon range "The Ho" would reduce substantially. (Not Plane type but Knight Bishop etc)

aircraft recognition would become a skill.

I GV a lot and have been on the wrong end of a bomb or two. Making them miss is part of the fun though harder with competant players. I will bomb GVs advancing on a base as defense of said base and I will target the perk tanks as they will be harder for my sides GVs to kill. So up a panzer when your Buds have perk rides around you.

HTC hears your pain and changes are a coming.  :joystick:

We had a bunch of GVs attacking an air base last night. I think if that can stop them maybe the bomber types will stop hittong GVs... maybe.   :)

Can't work in the mains as each side has access to all planes.
