A picture of my grandfather standing next to his C47 gunship during Vietnam, showing the nose art.

Probably not the correct forum because it is from Vietnam and not WW2, but I figured the guys in here would appreciate it more than most the people in the O'club forum

Have you researched the aircraft? if you can get the plane number (add a 4 in front of it, its always left out, it would be a 7 digit not a 6 digit code) you can find out when it was made etc.

I asked my Dad about the plane number, but he didn't know it off the top of his head. If we find the log books or another photo with it I will do some of the research. I did find out that my grandfather flew two different C47s. One was the gunship pictured above and the other was a standard cargo version of the C47 that he flew dropping leaflets during Vietnam. Apparently a photo was taken of him dropping the leaflets, that was published in an Airforce magazine during that time frame.
Here is a photo of him while flying his B47 for a Boing photo shoot.

Apparently this huge photo hung in the lobby of Boing's headquarters for a number of years and then was given to my grandfather when Boing no longer wanted it. To give you an idea of how large it is, the framed photo of the two people in the bottom center of the picture measures 8"x11"
If I find anymore interesting photos, I will post them when I get the chance.

Really cool T, thanks so much for sharing - I wouldn't give that photo away for a million bucks!

Yeah if it was up to me, the only way it would leave the family is to go to a museum.
