Title: LCD monitor as TV replacement?

Thinking of upsizing my 24" LCD to a 27" Meanwhile the 21" CRT TV in the spare room is on the fritz. I use Directv in the spare room now.
I've connected the 24" LCD to Directv via S cable before with no issues. Any reason not to use the old LCD iso buying a new flat screen TV?

If you can't understand the OP then you're not as smart as you think you are.

As for the OP's question...when my flat screen LED TV went on the fritz, I used a spare LED monitor I had with a HDMI connection until my TV came home from the repair shop.  Had no problem other than watching on a smaller screen.

Gotta ask, what cable type are you using?  If the 'S cable' you speak of is an S-Video (ie. PS2 mouse-style plug) cable, I don't think you'll be able to get over 640x480 resolution through it.

English is not my native language so typing and spelling errors complicate things quite a lot. The use of the word 'on the fritz' and 'iso' made the description pretty much unreadable for me.

Now I see that on the fritz is a term for something going broken. I suspected he meant 'on the fridge' as being on a refrigerator or something :)

The satellite receiver has both S cable and HDMI interfaces. The 24" monitor is pretty old, with DVI and S cable inputs. No worries, it will be used in a guest bedroom and won't be used very often.

The original premise/assumption of my question: any computer can be used as a TV as long as it interfaces with a cable or satellite receiver.

I, too, was thinking it was situated on the fridge. Not a wasted day, I learned something new.   :)
