Title: Limited plane or GV numbers
Post by: captain1ma on January 20, 2012, 01:56:33 PM
the ability to limit the numbers of a particular plane or gv model IE  setting for 25  bf109k4's. once that number is reached(players with that particular plane), whether available at a base or not, it automatically becomes disabled and they have to chose a lower or different model.

would be mostly for the FSO, special events, custom arena's, and the AVA.

In the CM settings, I know you can enable and disable planes, I am also pretty sure you can't set the number of airframes allowed at any time.  That would be a very interesting dynamic.  Would absolutely not work in any of the MAs.  In the arenas you suggest, like I said, very, very intriguing idea.

-custom arena the creator can just tell everybody the limit anybody that doesnt comply  can get kicked out.
-ava you would have to set the limit to like 2 otherwise is unlimited planeset.  not many people play there, unless somebody has a squad night.
-fso last time I was there squads were assigned which airplane to fly.  and squads would select the available airplane. anybody that doesnt comply gets kicked out.
-special events already has a limit when the event is created.  you must up a preselected plane if you want participate. or you get kicked out.

so pretty much your wish is already granted.  gonna wait till the morning for skuzzy to give his "wish granted" dance.

however even though you dont come out and say it, i believe your wish is geared towards the ma, and that aint gonna happen.

no actually its not granted, guncrasher. i spend alot of time fixing and setting up arena's. yes i can limit people by kicking them out, the idea is to automatically limit airframes, which is a coding issue, not a manual issue. guess you really didn't read my post. especially the last line.

This would be a spectacular way to model attrition.

Say only 20 of the latest and greatest fighters. Once they are gone, a side has to rely on their older models.

We really need some of these types of tools for the AvA. As a 24/7 arena we need to have some automatic capabilities like this to run varied, dynamic campaigns, because unlike SEA we don't have always have a CM present to control such things.

Just not in the MA. Not unless the numbers are tied to a production facility.

I really like this idea and it makes perfect sense for events and the AVA. :aok

well the attrition thing would be nice, but that would be a coding nightmare.....i think. but just having it so that you could only have 10-15-20 planes of a particular model up and then it just gets shut off, would be fun. this way you would never exceed that number of planes for that particular model. the attrition thing would be a bonus and awesome if possible but that would really limit the game, don't know that you could actually get away with it.

again this wouldn't be for the MA's, it just wouldn't work in there. this would be for everything else.

This gets complicated with a relog from disco, or with 2 lives in a scenario a newb could launch and waste an aircraft before it was needed.

Actually, your wish would accomplish the attrition I was talking about.

Just a limited number of a certain AC.

you are right.  would probably make it easier on events or other arenas to have some kind of limit on the number of planes  if needed :salute.
