Title: Forum access problems
Post by: bozon on January 22, 2012, 04:03:25 AM
For some reason I cannot access the AH BBS when connected through ISPs in Israel. I am now logged in through a university.

When connected through ISPs (various) I immediate get a message that I am banned from the forums. I get this message even if I delete all cookies - they the message says that "guest" is banned from using the forums.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Are you traveling or are you using some type of proxy software?  We actively block open proxies from accessing the board.

There are many spam blocks on the board to prevent spammers and/or hackers access.

I am using mainly my laptop, but I also tried a relative's desktop computer and had the same problem. I do not know if my ISP is using anything, but I got this with two different ISPs that I switched between.

When I use the exact same laptop through the university (now) and when I used it from an ISP in Germany, I had no problems. It looks as if the board blocks entire ISPs in Israel. Can it be related to dynamic IPs?

You will have to let me know the IP address you are coming from so I can check it out.

Problem is sort of solved. My ISP is giving dynamic IPs and some of them are blocked - must be that someone in the past used these from my ISP to spam/attack websites. After I made my router redial, I finally got an IP with a "clean" history. There are several IPs that I got dynamically and get blocked.
