For all of you who say they are going to be blasting storchs out of the sky when the new edition come out. I have been fooling around in the beta testing program in Fighters like the P-51, F6F, La-7, A6M, I-16 ect and I have been flying against storchs and unless they are fly straight and level they are very hard to hit :bhead . they have an extremely tight turning radius (especially with the flaps down) and most of the time I just cannot fly slow enough or turn fast enough to get a shot in on one.
Just things to consider. :salute

I say Ni to you! Ni!

These are going to get shot down in droves. :D
1. it's slow and almost defenseless
2. it's going to be a total fighter magnet for everyone who wants an easy kill
3. It's almost always going to be found at low alt.
3. It's SLOW...which....after a quick check on last tours stats....
I looked at most of our "slowest" fighters in the game, and found that with only one exception they all had a K/D ratio of less than .5 The oddity was the Hurri2c which is quite the little pwner ;) But that's probably due to the way in which it's used, and the 4 20mm prolly doesnt hurt either.

have you tried the beta and actually tried to shoot one down?
-
It will be kinda like shooting down normal fighters while flying a 262.

Yes I have.

Yes I believe it will. In a 262 attacking at 450+ IAS many fighters almost appear motionless in the sky due to yout extreme closing rate. Many times only small adjustments are needed even for the most frantically manuvering opponent.
I believe this will be similar with the storch, it certainly turns well, but it's turn radius is so small, and its speed so slow that although its orientation may be drastically different to the attacking fighter, it doesnt in fact do a very good job of "getting out of the enemies sights"

Dont get on its tail or that 7.62 will rip you to shreds! :lol

Well before you guys go much further, according to Galland, when assessing the effectiveness of fighters agains the helicopter (helicopters were being studied as battlefield support and even offensive weapons), the fighter stood little chance against one. I am sure the little Storch will have a few surprises for us.
-
The bane of the Storch is not going to be enemy fighters. It is going to be the wirblewinds, ostwinds, and M16's.
I've dodge fighters time and time again, but once the wirbys and M16's tie in to the Storch, it is lights out. Trust me when I say there is going to be waves of fighters eat dirt before they figure out that the Storch is not a direct threat and that they should be far more worried about enemy fighters.

Im sure it will to!

I had no trouble killing Fi156s with the Mosquito. Don't dive on it, come in level with it and it is too slow to evade.
-
I'm gonna bail in front of it and take pot shots with the Colt. :devil

Dog fighting in Storchs: Wait wait get on his low 12 o clock!
-
I've been flying the storch many times and I'm getting killed not by planes, but by panzers and tigers and m4's by their little pintle guns on top of the turret!
-
Now that we have them. I was right, they ARE a super easy kill :D
-
I spawned a storch from a 30k spawn in the training arena (over and enemy field) just for kicks and settled down into the 300fpm descent that would allow it to keep flying and suddenly a f4u spawned right next to me.
In about 22 passes, he never got a proper firing solution and he finally hit the ground when the fight got that low.
He was not a noob.

Brilliant! A useful usage for the pintles. Yay! :rock

I took my first flight in the Storch lastnight, found the slowness of the aircraft to be similar to the effect the Fairly Swordfish had on AA gunners.
It's so slow compared to what people are used to shooting at, they over compensate, especially if you're jinxing back and forth.
I'm sure the skills of the gunner had more to do with it, but I had quite the time dodging AA and dropping smoke markers. :joystick:
