Aces High Bulletin Board

For some reason, I never have any luck with the "Advanced Search" function of the BB. For example, I just tried to search for "trees", posts from 0 to one day old, "Aces High General Discussion", most recent posts first. One would think that this would be pretty easy to do, but the search results never appear. Sunday, January 22, 2012, about 12 midnight CST.

We did not write the bulletin board software.
When searching, the smaller the search criteria, the longer it can take. It would not surprise me to see some searches taking up to an hour, given the number of posts on our board.
If the search takes too long, the server will timeout the request to help prevent the bulletin board from being locked up.

Personally, and this seems not to be the norm, I generally have pretty good search results, except when I search for mayonnaise.

I know you didn't. However, I figured that there might be configuration settings which you had control over, or some such.

That is counterintuitive (to me anyway), but explains the slow results I was getting. I picked the "0 to 1 days" based on the incorrect assumption that it would be easier to execute, and would thus indicate if something was wrong with the search function.

Overall, this is no big deal either way for me. I just wanted to let you know that it didn't seem to be working correctly. BTW, sorry about the double post. The first attempt at the post seemed to hang, so after about a minute, I decided it was dead and tried again. Since they didn't show up immediately, I didn't see that there were 2 identical posts until the next day, after it was too late for me to modify them.

There are no settings that will help the problem. The SMF board is a pretty good board, but the search function sucks. Their (the SMF developers) answer is to use a third party search system, which is not real time.
The hang that caused your double post was probably your search locking up the board.
