Title: Plane skins gone
Post by: B4Buster on January 25, 2012, 07:16:26 PM
After downloading the latest patch, all of my downloaded skins are gone. Anyone else have this problem?

Strange thing is, they aren't even there to download. The only skin showing in the drop down list is the default.

Same here... Quite annoying, actually. The skin folder is there, with all of the various skins, but none are available in the game....

Huh...When I launch on the runway, the custom skin I had on the plane shows up.

Did you have Beta installed? A squaddie of mine without Beta installed had no issues with skins.

Heard someone say they relogged and it was fixed. Odd how it effects some and not others.

I had the same thing. Logged on three times, not there. Fourth time, they were back. Not sure but...

All my skins are fine but I installed the download from the website if that makes any difference <shrug>

First run online the hangar only showed the default skin for the 38L. I noticed after flying for a bit that I had the green 80th skin I usually have anyway. After relogging I see the skins listed in the hangar but they're all in red. Guessing another update for all the skins and more downloading?

On another thread I started Skuzzy noted that this was normal as the skins need to adjust. It takes a bit then they are back to normal. It should mean that in short time they are back to normal. Mine took just an hour or so.

This not a bug.

When we add a new vehicle or plane, the "skins.res" file has to be updated.  This file contains all the references to skins in the game.  When it has to be updated the current version is invalid and so the game does not know about any skins installed.

Once the new version of the "skins.res" file is installed (only available online), then all the skins will show up again.

I also had to fix one of the tiger skins, which would invalidate the "skins.res" file as well.

Don't ever remember doing that before - but ok.

Nor do I....

I've never seen this before and I've been here for 11 years of updates and patches.

Maybe now that there are so many more skins available it takes a bit longer to square away the files.

It has always done it, but there have been changes to make things a bit more bullet proof which may now cause you to be aware of it.

It will probably be more pronounced on AMD based computers and/or those who are using the high resolution texture package.
