Because of the force bomber designation, no one will fly it who doesn't want to hurt their bomber rank. It needs a separate designation of observer. Also it would be nice to have the external view enabled for better visability and avoidance of enemy aircraft.
-
no external view please.
-
WTH is "score?"
-
Bomber designation is fine for Orphan aircraft like the Storch and C-47. Either that or add it to vehicles.
-
you will find the game is much more enjoyable when you don't worry about scores.

omg upping a storch hurts my score?? *whine whine whine
I agree 110% with Silver, sooner the better - even with a score of 1 there's 25 thats going to whip you like a redheaded step child.

Initial observations on the storch: Brilliant addition.
I had a hoot flying over TT last night. Even dodged a 109 for a little bit flying through the city streets. The only thing I would say is that the pilot dies instantly if the plane is hit.
I would ask that whatever box designates the pilot in the cockpit be either a bit smaller or a bit more resilient. I understand this may create a bit of a "gamy" circumstance. I was hit with everything from .303s to 30mm last night, regardless, puuf dead.
The storch does not change the face of the battle IMHO to merit the pilot being instantly killed. It would be a bit more fun and challenging if wounded or missing pieces. Did anyone else have this experience, or did I just run into the Annie Oakleys last night?
-
Dirtdart I think you had some bad luck, or your pilot needs to toughen up :lol I engaged numerous storches around TT and other places last night and they were a devil to bring down from MGs on the ground and in the air. I engaged many and one I finally got with a center main gun hit after expending most of my MG ammo.
That thing is a blast to fly also. Great fun marking OPFOR GVs with something other than rockets that are tough to use effectively and do not really "mark" well for my buddies.

You're having trouble seeing out of the Storch? It's a flying window.
As for pilot survivability... it's a flying window.
-
I think the Storch should be classified as a "gv", since it is saw more usage out in the field right next to the ground forces and not so much from airfields. It was towed on trailers quite a bit (w/ wings folded), and perhaps just as much as it was flown to an area. Plus, it is going to be used more dominantly at vehicle bases rather than airfields because many people will still up the IL-2's, Hurricane IID's, etc, instead of the Stork to investigate what is making the airfield flash, where as the v-base is %100 relying on the Stork. My 2 cents. :)

When I hit you with the 50cal top gun on my m4 it was a direct burst to the cockpit. You were at Tree top level. I could swear your Pilot was flipping me off :t

True that the visibility is great for looking down with that overhead wing but sucks for looking up even with that small sunroof.

Here's a few Ideas I had for the Storch. The first two ideas are really the critical ones, the others will take more time and data to see if they are necessary.
- Storch icons should be the same range as GV icons, making them harder to spot for fighters and such
- Storch base warning range should be tied to GV not bomber distance, this way supporting Storchs don't flash an enemy base near a GV battle
- Maybe look at bullet dispersion of the pintle guns on tanks, Storch should and does go down easy, but I've been killed at 800+ yards several times
- Maybe look at forcing tracers turned on for all machine guns on tanks

Had a blast in TT last night.
Took a break from the furball and manned an 88 flack gun for a while to watch the Storch-fest.
I thought the many plumes of orange made the place look quite pretty.
Didn't notice how long the smoke bombs remain active but with so many, the whole place was fazed with the stuff.
It made the new Sun look amazing through orange tinted 88flack sights.
After a near 2hr download (I know I should have gone a different route), it was well worth the wait.

thinking Klingon cloaking device for the stork!

If I had a heart beat that looked like my net stats, I would be in the ER. :cry
I blame HTC for the fact that my ISP is awful. It is all HTCs fault that I get hit three seconds after guys fly by me, end up in the tower before I spawn in a GV, and lose packets (bullets). <-------- Extreme sarcasm.
Remember, Viperius and I have the same stats and he is in switzerland...lol.
-
I bet the storch is awesome @ TT.
On maps where TT is inaccessable from the air, maybe restricting flaks/m16s would make it more fun.

tell me about it

dont forget it can be upped even if all hangers are down. Its like the redheaded stepchild of AH, it has its own rules which are different from any other craft in the game.

Give it a rest already. You posted it in the bug forum. You could have skipped all the sturm and drang. You made your point several times. You're upset. We get it. Get over it. Move on.

But life is about the game!!!

got your attention obviously, point made.
I honestly dont think the storch available with all hangers down is a bug, I do think that HTC may not have thought players would exploit this ability the way it has been. They give some of their customers way to much credit.....
-
It's been ONE DAY since a NEW TYPE of aircraft was introduced and you posted the same complaint in how many forums? Did you get enough attention yet?
-
Humm.......Kinda thought we were gonna get the 410 as well as the Storch with this new version. Oh well... :headscratch:
-
The 410 was moved to the top of the list of aircraft to be modeled next. It was never announced for this release. The Storch was already in development.

Nah, maybe ill go post it in every forum since you, an Aces High Trainer and representative of HTC directly, seems to feel im only saying something to bring attention to myself. If you would read all the responses there is obviously a good discussion going on about it, good points made on both ends of it to be honest. What is wrong with me, being a paying customer of HTC with no other ties to them, bringing up something i feel is important? Isnt this how the process works? People bring up ideas and concerns on the forums to get a community point of view, not just one persons one sided view point?

Grumpy, there are rules at the head of every BBs tab. Hijacking this and other threads, to include creating redundant threads to press the point on the storch, following the first day of it being active, is a bit excessive.
I think you are lucky you have not been muted for repeated BB viloations. I was ticked I could not fly a Storch on the map change. I posted it in "bugs forum" and called it a day.
:salute drink a beer.

My comment wasn't the hijack, the subsequent flames about my comment on the other hand were rather distracting from the OP. Flatirons "dirty little secret" comment would be considered a violation by your standards. With that said ill wait and see if im reprimanded for my behavior, if not guess i didnt really break the rules.... Ill let HTC make that decision. I only posted in the bug forum because someone else suggested it, I personally dont think its a bug but time will tell i guess.
