Not exactly metal, but still one of my favorite bands from that era.The progressive rock community really likes Focus. If you like that tune, see if you can find their album Focus 3. It's their best work in my opinion. Also check out a band called Starcastle.

"rock lobster" qualifies as metal.
Heavy riffs with Guitars downtuned to C a full two decades before anybody else riffed that low.

Prog Rock :)
You need an Air Guitar

Impressive. That was talent, no doubt. I wonder how many "musicians" today could do that?

Ugh, that version was dreadful. I'm thinking they partook in a bit much of the Dutch kindness.
This version is far superior.

I think my first one was better... had a lot dirtier sound, more rockin'. This version wasn't bad, but I think it's just a bit to clean, loses the Metalness I think the OP had.

THIS is the best version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0rAlUqVUAE
From guitar master Gary Hoey :rock :rock :rock

That was cool, never heard of those guys. Also through the youtube comments I was able to find even more crazy rock I've never heard before.
Thanks OP
Here's a band still producing records that blow your mind.

Thanks for that post Wil. Awsome. I prefer the studio one for pure volume, but as you stated, live is raw and dirty sound that can't be beat.
X10 on Gary Hoey devil. He has some much out there that is unknown. I love surf music too, and he does that as well as he does anything, but that focus cover got him to the radio finally.
My favorite of the rocks will always be acid rock, like blue cheer, vanilla fudge, etc. Focus was later and prog I guess, but they sure did channel acid rock well.
Have to go to free mp3 download app and restock my phone again now.....

Alright... I've had this song in my head now and I think I've finally figured it out. I know I've heard it before, but not this version of the song.
My family was a bit conservative, but due to a promotion, I had cable in the early 90s for a few months. In this time frame, I can name what was on MTV, because it was the only time in my young life I had it, and since I've been an adult, it's not worth watching...
...but at the time Beavis and Butthead were new, Speed Racer came on right afterwards, Soul to Squeeze by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers was up top and a new video, and if you watched late at night there was a music video of a dude, and I have no clue who it is, paying guitar solo.
He had a huge harness on that held a camera in front of him as he played the guitar, had a menagerie of distortion pedals, and was doing this song solo. At the time, I figured only Eddie could possibly have done something that epic, and my buddies were convinced I was thinking of Eruption... but I kept saying, "No, the breakdown was 'Dah nanah, dah nanah, dah nanah, dah nanah, dah nahnah, dahnahnah, dah nah nah!'."
I knew it was never the same song, but I never knew what it was. Please help!!!!
I know this is the same song, and if anyone can find that video I'm thinking of, I'd love to send it up to my buddy and say, "I TOLD YOU IT WASN'T VAN HALEN!!!
