Title: Bump map on vehicles
Post by: YamaRaja on January 27, 2012, 09:37:14 AM
When bump map on vehicles is on and the sun is out anywhere the sun is reflecting on the wirble is whited out. Gunner position or driver position.
The gear portions of the gun and the centers of the barrels whited out. The whited out portion changes position with head movement. Like its supposed to be the suns reflection but is just whited out instead.

ATI HD6950 2GB in xfire (acts the same in crossfire or not)
11.10 Drivers - 11.9 cap4 profiles (last xfire profile for 11.10 drivers) (11.10 is the last whql driver that is not buggy 11.12, 12.1 and 12.2 pre release all have issues of their own)
Tried fresh install of drivers (removed driver in cat install manager, deleted all ATI folders even hidden ones, removed all reg enterys for ATI and did a clean complete re-install)
W7 64bit
I7 2600k @ 4.7GHz
8GB Ram
All bump map and other graphics on
2048 textures
AA off ingame
AA on 16 or 8 in CCC (tried both) override app settings - 16x is an big improvement over maxed in-game AA
Antisotropic filtering on use app settings
Tesselation use app settings
Cat AI on quality
Verticle refresh always on
AA mode adaptive multi sample

Problem disappears when vehicle bump map on self is unchecked

Also should note there is a severe hit to frame rates with xfire off and on one card driving thru clutter with everything maxed out at and at 16x AA. xfire on doubles frame rate on the ground with everything maxed out.

I never did have much faith in WHQL drivers... but regardless definitely sounds like a legitimate bug

Also, is it all vehicles or just the Wirbel?

Only happening in the Wirbel.  All other GVs/planes look fine.

Even in the hanger (no direct sunlight):

With shadows & smoothing also turned on:

Only happening in the turret.  Driver's seat is fine.

Exactly what I am seeing Ranger.

If when in the drivers seat and looking up at the gun barrels (I use TrackIr) the barrels are the same way. Outline black with centers white like the other pictures.

Thanks for the screen shot.

That does not look driver related to me, but rather a bug in AH. Will look into it Monday.

Also do you have self shadow on or off?

HiTech

I never have shadows on.  I only turned it on for the last pic to give you a lil more material to work with. :salute

Hitech, when's the last time someone told you that you're AWESOME!

I mean come on.. here on a Saturday scratching your head over a bunch of nagging bugs still in the game?  I bet you're the type that has problems sleep at night knowing about these quirky little bugs floating around (and I'm sure it has nothing to do with your baby girl keeping you up!  LOL)

Anyways congrats man!  It's things like this that actually make me feel proud to hand over my $15 each month.  EA sure as heck won't be getting any money from me!

Thanks for all of the fun times over the last 6 1/2 years and I look forward to having a blast here for another 6 1/2 years at least!

Same issue for me tonight was in an Osti & in it for about 2 min then game crashed. Only game crashes I have had have been in GV's with the new patch. Keep turning the eye candy down or off they seem to be happening less :headscratch: Just wondering what I need to turn off next to stop the crashes.

Getting CTDs when upping a GV in a terrain I'm working on.  Wasn't happening until the latest patch.  The version update with the new clutter & such was just fine on my end, just the latest patch causing multiple CTDs for me.  3 online & 5 offline CTDs tonight.  Haven't had a CTD in years til last night. :salute

Please don't mix issues like ctd with this graphic issue. See CTD treads requesting crash inbfo.

Sorry not bright enough on PC issues to know what I have or have to do.

Thank you for directing me in the right direction.
