The perk system in Aces High II allows some interesting but otherwise unbalancing planes to be introduced on a limited basis
Does perk system prevent 300 top pilots up Me262s and swarm the arena? No. But if you don't have perks it won't let you up Me262 even there is no single perked plane in the arena. ( because it can "unbalance" it ) :headscratch:
My wish is to make pool of free perks planes for each country based on total planes in flight.
It won't prevent perk-plane swarm same as perk system doesn't but it gives chance everybody to fly super-plane in MA time to time.

No, I don't think this is a good idea. The choice to fly or drive very powerful units is a reward for past success, not a right.

Everyone has the same chance to earn perks. You're asking for something for free that you didn't earn, that wouldn't be free for everybody else.

No. The skill of those 300 top pilots goes a long way to do that; they don't need and/or want to fly perked planes all the time, thus limiting the number of perk planes in the air at any one time.
It seems to be the people with few perk points or less-than-average fighter skills (not directing this at you prono), that complain about not being able to fly perk planes, like perk planes magically make one a better pilot...just sayin'.

When your chess piece has very low #s from the other 2, the cost of those perk rides goes down dramatically. I've upped 262s at the rock bottom price of 85 perkies. Usually I won't fly them if the cost is over 175. Currently I have about 300 fighter perks, so upping a 262 just for the heck of it really isn't my thing. I will up one just to buff hunt near the HQ though..... :devil
If I lose a 262 I'll fly higher eny planes, as those earn some pretty good perks for just about anything you shoot down, until I make up most of the lost perks. I normally fly P51 D which really doesn't earn a whole lotta perks anyway, but it's what I like to fly. :salute

I actually have very few perk points as I don't play much anymore and I had to cancel my old account that had the thousands of perk points on it some time ago for financial reasons. I cannot, for example, take up an Me262.
I still think all these perk threads are stupid.

But :D none of you said directly that perks are for arena balance but for rewarding good players with ever better planes. I don't see that statement anywhere an THC pages. That AHWIKI wisdom mislead me. ;)
Let's not argue is it right or wrong to reward good pilots with perk planes because they are not the case.
Perks is hidden ( or not ) score system and we reward pilots flying for SCORE.
Most people say game is more fun when you don't fly for score and now we encourage people to fly less fun style if they want to be rewarded.
My bad I tough that in cartoon world letting people play they want (in balance limits) won't hurt homebody's ego. :old:

Nope, perks are a reward for killing things. Flying for score is not the same...related, but not the same.
But you are correct that perks are not meant to balance the arena. Perks are just one way to try to limit the number of "uberest of the uber popular" planes flying around.

The only problem with 300 262s being up in the same area, is that at any given time you can have 1200 30mm HE shells flying in any random direction and 300 friendly aircraft traveling ~500mph through that same region of space.... killshooter, the grand equalizer.
