Fieseler Fi-156 Storch audio files with the Argus AS 10 V8 engine and Bergmann MG 15 defensive machinegun. Also added a custom smoke grenade release mechanism.
Custom recordings made by me in 2010 in Karlsruhe, Germany using a portable digital recorder and Sennheiser shotgun microphone.

The real engine of a Storch sounds very cool compared to the default. :aok

Yes harmonics are much different when actually mounted in an airframe. Its also important to LET THE GAME CREATE STEREO rather than feed it stereo or the 3D positioning cant work.
I make no apologies for creating sounds at something very close to realistic levels when it comes to things like flaps and gear. You dont NEED to hear flaps or gear since you have indicators. What IS needed is to get information from things like the stall horn. A buzzer doesnt tell you much. The clacker I use is something similar to what we use in sailplanes. It was developed because two friends of the inventor died on the same day due to flying on the edge of stall which is something sailplane pilots do nearly the entire time they are flying. The conventional thought at one time was that since they are near stall the horns would never be silent so no one used them. The clacker gives you information without getting tiresome.
Once again here is the engine test (later I may post a flying sequence with all sounds in use):

Fruda, FYI. Sound files need to be mono in order to work with the 3D sound system. A DirectX requirement, not ours. Just thought you might want to know.

You were right that he said the same thing in 2004. However even with the Miles system the same thing is true. You even read the posts back in December! See the link above from 2011.

no he is talking about 3d positioning not file formats
thank you again

He is talking about file formats. Single channel means mono! You would know this if you read anything about sound creation for DirectX games... or really even the basics of sound creation period!

no attacks please
in 2004 he discussed file formats with fruda
in 2011 he discussed 3d "surround" positioning
I know qite abit about file formats and what Miles is capable of
If you cant handle someone pointing out facts dont post , but please dont post info that would confuse the average pc player
you posted 2 links talking about two different subjects its in the links
Nice engine sound BTW

I just told you straight up. Mono is required or the sound processing of Aces High will not work properly. Im not attacking you. The information is available. Read what Skuzzy said. Single Channel! Stereo sounds can play from the perspective of the player but all the sounds he hears from other sources will not work right and cannot be stereo-located.

No Miles will play stereo mp3`s even up to an Audio Sample Rate of 44kHz
I use stereo pcm and only go to 22kHz because during tests i found it to be less taxing on the majority of systems i tested ranging from basic laptop to high end game rigs
The new Miles system doesnt "require" mono it will play everything
**pulled from miles**
"Miles includes full SPU support! Bink Audio, MP3 and ADPCM decompression, along with DSP, reverb, and all mixing takes place on the SPU - no PPU overhead!"
Miles has the best digital audio features. Miles supports "multi-channel" input and output, on-the-fly mixing and format conversion, decompression (Bink Audio, Ogg, MP3, ADPCM and voice chat codecs), powerful streaming, more than a dozen DSP filters, 3D spatial positioning, software reverb, recording support and more"

It doesnt matter. Miles can play it. Thats it.
Try an experiment (I already did this). Record a tank moving in the bush. Listen to the position of the tank with stereo sounds for all vehicles. The positions are confused and dont work. Worse if a single airplane flies over the doppler shift becomes distorted and too brassy. Replacing the sounds with mono makes them more distinct and positions are precisely defined.
The best equipment in sound cards can define the precise location of vehicles. Maybe bad equipment masks the effects of using stereo sounds? I wouldnt know.

I cant believe you would even say something like that Uptown. I guess I should consider the source.
