HT's been working on a crash bug that some people are getting and thinks he has it fixed. He wants more people to try it out before we ship it. It should either run or not run on your system. If you've been getting crashes, that should be fixed now and maybe run smoother. Even if you weren't getting any crashes, we'd appreciate knowing if this test version runs on your machine successfully.
To test, just download the following link directly into your \HiTech Creations\Aces High folder and run the file acestest.exe.
http://downloads1.hitechcreations.com/acestest.exe (http://downloads1.hitechcreations.com/acestest.exe)
This also fixes the following:
Instrument panel glass faces now display correctly with shaders.
Fixed an issue causing gunsight glass to disappear on some planes.
Fixed a shading issue that made the Flakpanzer gun reflect light incorrectly.
Fixed an issue with WW1 planes that could cause icons to disappear from certain viewing angles.
Bomber drones now have their bump mapping effects toggled on and off when you toggle bump mapping for yourself.

Our download server is acting up. I moved it to a different one and changed the link. It should download fine now.

Works for me. No problems, gauge glass looks much better and gunsight glass is fixed. I made sure I have bump mapping on this time. :D
-
No issues on my machine.... :aok
-
with the new update(not this test) I noticed when I drop my DT my entire gauges would change color, not change color but get over all lighter....Ill be flying on the test through out the day, I was getting crashes hopefully this will fix
I must say HTC you guys :rock
-
Looking good - runs fine here. Can confirm gunsight glass is fixed in Hellcat.
-
Ran it and no issues. I did however notice about a 5 - 10 FPS drop when the clipboard map is up while I am flying or driving. 4 others who were not running this version said same. I have never noticed it before. But I almost always have the clipboard up in my lower right corner when playing.
-
The only problem I had was with frame rates on 3 aircraft. The B29, Mossi6 and Me262.
One of my tests for new releases is to spawn offline, F3 and from behind the aircraft rapidly hit the Num7 and Num9 keys to see what happens to the FPS. When I was still in cockpit view these three would drop to 33-42. When I was in F3 performing the test they would drop to 32. After 30 minutes of repeating this with other fighters and bombers I returned to the first three. They now maintained 57-59 when I rapidly hit the Num7/Num9 keys.
From behind the Mossi6 there is a black rapidly flickering line under the rudder on the concrete.

I tried the test version. It seemed the same as the normal version with regard to smoothness, an occasional slight hesitation here and there but nothing serious. No crashes, but then I've only had those in NDI Isles' TT area since 2.27 came out.
-
no crashes, but I was getting pauses which I don't normally get...and I got a message I never saw before..."ran out of memory consider dropping the distance for ground....." something like that
everything is off except for
detail terrain
detail water
water reflections
bump mapping mine and other planes
I am running windows 7 32bit
a 1gig MSI 4830
AMD athlon duel core 5600 2.9 GHZ
4 gig of ram
-
Still no crashes, but I'm not able to give it a through run through at this time.
-
I had 2 crashes on the real version tonight, then I found this thread.
I have about 2 hours with this test version, no issues so far.
-
No crashes tonight, ran smooth. No eye candy at all...see below and you'll know why...POS laptop.
I will run it on my home machine tomorrow when I get back from biz trip

So far so good, although I wasn't getting crashes before. It does seem to clear up the transparent glass issue in the 38G.
-
We need blinking text for new sticky posts in these threads. We get so used to seeing them up top that we don't even pay attention to them any more so when something new gets posted it gets missed.
Or something to grab our attention when something new gets posted... :rock
-
Maybe they're trying to select for the attentive and observant. :devil

That's a really good point. I'm obviously not part of that crowd! :lol
-
Noticed the Icon issue in WW1 the other day. When looking back Icons would disappear and then return. Thought it was the reduced Icon range with the new patch. Will check it out on the test version.
-
I have no issues with the test.

No crashes at all, for the "test version", or the latest version either.
AH runs just fine.
-
Can't seem to get the test version. Tried both Firefox and Explorer and got this same message from both:
Had no trouble uploading the current game version. WTF does this mean? :headscratch:
-
Same message here :headscratch:
-
It looks like you're trying to run it instead of download it. Select the "save as" option and navigate your target window to your Aces High folder.
-
Will this download fix the Object Shadows not showing correctly?
Sun is overhead - No Object shadow, box is checked.
P51 object shadow is incomplete

-
Same message here :headscratch:
You also get that message if you run the file outside of the Aces High folder. It has to be in the same folder as aceshigh.exe.
-
Ok, thanks I will do that when I come back from work!
