Dear HTC...

I have wondered for years, why is your auto updater so ridiculously slow?! An average of 30 kb/s is a bit outdated even for a few years ago. Is there a reason the auto-update is so slow or is it purely there to sustain subsribers with slower connections?

Does everyone else get the same speeds as me through the game's auto update or is speed lost in translation when it's broadcast this side of the pond?

Auto is slower for me is well. I can manually DL very quickly and be playing much faster it seems.

I was getting a whopping 7KB a second the other day for the BIG release!!!  I decided to cancel and download from the website and got a 600KB per second...  Everything worked fine over the weekend for the first couple days of the new release.  This lastest patch fix did something and now the game is unplayable due to framerate freezes.

I'm happy to hear I'm not the only person to get 1990's speeds from the game's auto-updater... Sorry about your freezes Wilbur, have not experienced any of the same.

I was looking at 30-40 minutes through the auto updater.  Went to the website and got it in 6-7 minutes.

meh perhaps I live in the vortex. I have never seen more than 35 kb/s from the AH auto-updater, despite seeing FAR higher speeds on average for everything.

Maybe it has something to do with the many other people downloading at the exact same moment as you.

Mine took almost an hour for the update through auto, I ddn't care as I had some shopping to do anyhow.

Might simply be an intentional bottleneck to lessen server strain. I think the HTTP downloads are on the secondary server, so they don't have that.

My speeds were above 200k/s early on, problem I had was everyone else was updating at the same time - which causes the speeds to slow horribly to around 30k/s.

Some of the squads have websites, perhaps we can politely ask some of them to host the updated patch in case someone wants an alt download?

I don't think HTC wants to do that. Besides, there is already an alternate download. Go download it from the web server.

The auto download wanted to run almost 40 minutes for me, so I snagged it from the web server, and got it in less than 5.
