After playing AH for a few hours (with most of the high graphics settings turned on), I had my screen turn to a shade of light red for a few seconds then "puuf", the screen went black and said "no signal". I shut off the PC and let her sit for a minute, then started it back up. No go. I let it sit for 15 minutes or so and she started right back up. I turned on AH to see how it ran and I got the system message of "disabling advanced graphic settings". I shut off AH and here I am.
Is that typical of an over-heated system? Should I get more fans, or maybe spritz some water over the graphics card to keep it cool? ;)

It could be heat. In this instance, it could a combination of heat and power supply.

I've got a 480W power supply for a Intel Duo Core E7600 and AMD Radeon HD 5700 series graphics card (the graphics cards has a direct power hook up to the powers supply). I need at least 460W for the graphics card and I'm not finding a "minimum" for the processor.

It was certainly an over heat problem and I believe I found the culprit. Upon further inspection of my graphics card, I realized that the fan was not turning. I gave it a gentle push with tip of my finger and it went for a few spins and stopped again. After looking more closely, the power cord from the USP ports on the front of my case had some how edged up from below just enough to apply pressure to the fan and stop it. I pushed the cable down and well out of the way and away the fan went.
I'll keep a close eye on it and make sure the heat gets dissipated and that the fan motor was not damaged. Thankfully, it was that simple. :pray

Just FYI, but a 480W power supply is cutting it more than a bit tight with that video card. I would, at least, use an externally powered USB hub for all the USB devices to reduce the load on that supply.

Thanks for the advice, it is well taken. I'll see what I can find for a USB hub. Currently, I only have the Logitech headset and Logitech headset hooked up via USB. I found an unused Logitech keyboard and laser mouse both with the old style analog pin plug in, so I dont think I have much of a load atm, but either way I'll either look in to a USB hub and/or a larger power supply.
