I think it would be really cool to call in some artillery. Im not sure how it would be handled, if players would control the arty or if the AI would and you would have to call it in, We could have naval bombardment also where you could call in the big guns.
1.) If players control arty I guess they could have other players be forward observers and direct the arty
2.) Would be fun to set up on a hill and blast that AF in the valley a few miles out
3.) Conversley imagine the fun takeing out an arty position, you call in the fighters to take it out
4.) Smoke missions, obscure you movement for you
5.) Hehe have that arty pre planed to be droped on your position when your being overrun (saw that in a movie, forget which (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif))
6.) We basically need 1 arty piece to start off with and we can build up the sytem from there on how to handle it, how to call it in, prioritize fire...

Allow the C47 to drop off a few troops and a art gun. Everything parachutes down (or you could land and unload) then the troops unpack the guns.
The same goes for Flak guns for high alt attacks on the HQ and other major city/bases.
I'd like to see the puffs of flak fill the sky when there are big raids on your defending area.
Now that we have the new map and vehicles there's so much more that can be done!!! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

We're planning on adding artillery to the game at some point. Probably a M7 Priest.
HT badly wanted to model smoke shells for the tanks in 1.02 but didn't have enough time.
Different uses for the C-47 like resupplying fields or insertion of different kinds of troops are things we're thinking about. Dropping a 75mm pack howitzer in a paracrate on a hill just outside of an airfield would be fun.

Spotting arty in DOA was a blast!

You know, I like the free-form way HTC is taking to developing this sim... never say never, and always ready to look in unexpected directions. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Pyro,
Any chance for troop/supply gliders? I made a post on this earlier. The CG4A could carry 13 troops and a howlitzer or a jeep. They would look beautiful being towed behind a C47 (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

OH YES! Arty and Horsas/CGs would be EPIC. I can see the Market-Garden scenario on the distant, distant horizon......

German 88s should be the first - widely used dual purpose very powerful guns. Would be great as anti-tank defence for bases as well as anti-buff weapon (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif).

Yeah, be kinda cool to drop OSS types behind enemy lines to "AID" the resistance.
If we get Trains the OSS types could sabotage the tracks.
OSS could gather info on Factories and refineries.
But the best thing about the OSS types would be the ability to give limited spotting when DAR goes down.
With the C-47 carrying supplies, the next time my CO tells me;
"You screw up even this much >< and you'll be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dogshit from Japan"
he'll actually mean it.
[scratches head and wonders if rubber dogshit is modelled realistically]
