North Africa - Final Moves
Pressed between the veteran British Eighth Army on the
East, and the green but eager U.S. forces on the West,
the Afrika Korps fights the final delaying action.
Because the historical airfields are quite far apart,
vehicles and aircraft are enabled at ALL bases.
Some aircraft will not be able to exit Vbase hangers.

I observe that fuel burn rates and ack strength are same as MA standards.
Quite a pair of surprises!

Hey! I represent that! I am mild-mannered under all circumstances.
I really didn't want this changed just to suit me. There has always been discussion about whether the AvA should have the same settings as the MAs, so that newcomers wouldn't be thrown off by ack and fuel changes, and I figured this is what Soda was trying here. I just thought it best to warn people about it, that's all! Most of them are quicker on the uptake than I am (ran out of fuel twice before I thought to check the settings) (got shot down by ack twice chasing ackhuggers, even AFTER I'd seen the different fuel burn rate) (poor pathetic oldman).

im just curious, ive thought about comming to the AvA a few times, now im just curious what the different fuel burn rate and ack strength actually mean. or if theres anything else i should know?

the fuel burn rate is half of the burn rate in the MA, so your fuel load will last twice as long. Most players in the AvA will up with 25% fuel load and have plenty to fight with. Ack is generally turned down in order to promote fighting and discourage ack hugging.
Other stuff to know:
Most of the maps used in the AvA are built so that bases are close together and you can quickly find and fly to a fight. Icon ranges can vary from week to week but are almost always shorter than MA standard. The scenario changes weekly starting on Friday and ending late Thursday night. Many times fighters are enabled at V-bases. Historic plane match ups (or as close as can be done with the available plane set). I have experienced a much friendlier environment in the AvA and IMHO the fights are better, with fewer or no picks, HOs, vulching or other such tard behavior. Check this forum on Thursdays/Fridays to get a write up of the current scenario and join in on one that you think you will enjoy. No wait time to switch sides (this is done to help promote balanced sides). Only 2 countries in play on the maps.
Honestly merc, you really have to try the AvA a few times to get a good feel for it in order to see if it is something you enjoy. I suggest finding a squad in the AvA to help you get into the swing of things in the AvA; I'm partial to JG54 but that is because Jaeger promised me all the sheep i could handle. (still waiting on that delivery Jaeger!! :noid )

they're coming, i swear! i ordered them yesterday! they said "two weeks"! :D

One thing I would add is that I really don't like to advertise the arena as one in which there is better sportsmanship etc.
When we do that, sure enough some new to AvA player will get HO'd or vultched and complain that he was told it would be different.
What we can control is historical plane match ups in historical and semi historical settings. We can also adjust some settings to be different from the MA's.
If you have an experience where you see better sportsmanship and such that's great, but it's not something we really have control over.

I understand your concern Jimson; that was why I put in the IMHO disclaimer; so that anybody reading it would see that the "better fights and behavior" part of my post was just my opinion.
