Title: Bombs take too long to arm
Post by: Rob52240 on February 11, 2012, 08:19:19 PM
When Dropping on GVs, ever since a few tankers complained the GV icon distance down to a small number.  It is very difficult to see them from an altitude that allows bombs to arm.

So I'm going to fight fire with fire and start complaining about this.

You're asking to blow yourself up or lawndart you realize this right?

What's so hard about making a "recon" pass first, them keeping your eyes on the tank until you come around for the bomb pass?

I do agree to this.  But i can see them from 7k up just adjusting to know how close i am as i dive in.

If I make an effort to look, spotting GV's although harder with no giant "look at me icon"  is entirely possible from outside the ranges of the old icon system.

I see them from farther away now that im not icon dependent since im visually scanning for them instead of waiting for the look at me sign.

Spotting them isnt so much the problem, but remembering where they are when you roll in to attack.  Atleast for me.  But that's kinda fun though, its a neat challenge.

Something else I noticed,  It does not seem to be "common knowledge" that a Parked GV can shows half icon range, and one parked under a tree (or in some cases against a hedgerow, shows no icon.

Thats good stuff if you're a gv'er :aok

Why not just make a custom arena where there is absolutely no one to oppose you and you don't have to worry about someone defending?

Sounds like you need a wingman to fly a Storch when you go GV hunting.

I wonder why the storch was added??? man I wish Hitech would put in writing why some of this stuff gets added in game.
It doesn't make sense, a plane that has no bombs and only a single rear machine gun that was used for observation, i mean why add it in game?

Its useless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has it's niche on here.  May not do much but lets some of the dive bomber know where the GVs are at.

HTC could provide free subscriptions and get everyone laid, and someone would still find a reason to complain.  Heaven forbid if anyone might have to work a little to be good at something in the game. Might as well start a wish list thread asking for laser guided bombs.

You should start a custom forum to piss on other squads with.  You can make things up just like you do now but you'll be able to make even more ridiculously inaccurate comments.

didnt you guys last night switched to hitting undefended bases after we busted several of your "missions"?  and even then it took you guys about 15 or 20 guys to attack gv bases dive crashing yourselves in there while your fearless leader vdallas was hoing and running away from every fight.

Are any other squads held responsible for the # of defenders at their targets? :neener:

All you got is "attack undefended bases, HO, attack more undefended bases".  Pathetic.

Looking at my 'killed by',  25% of my deaths in gv's have come from above. It seems acft bombing me aren't having much problems with bombs arming.  :airplane: :old: :old: :old:

I've had no problem blowing them up other then the same problem I had before. Hitting them
But when I've hit them I've killed them.

You can usually see the GV before you see the icon. Just gotta know its not a friendly GV

The thing that bugs me, I can see the GV from a long ways out. But I have to do a recon pass to see if it's a friend or a bad guy.

The ^%$# Flak Pz on the ground knows I am a target at 6K out..................

I think it needs to work both ways.

He!!.......... I work at a airport, at 6K I can't tell you if a 747 has "United" markings or if it is "Airforce One".

I think the markings on a 747 are slightly more distinguishable at long range then those of a GV 1/10 the size
It shouldnt bug you. Thats how things were and are. How is it you think we end up with friendly fire incidents even today?

Where I was going with this is............

I am OK with the short GV icon range and having to ID my targets when I am flying.

What don't like is that the manned guns & Flak panzers with "Iron Sights" can still ID me as a bad guy 6K out from them.

Friendly fire incidents should be happen both ways.

Funny, I was going to comment being a vguy himself. He could just cruise missle into gvs like they do the hangars. Heaven forbid learning to dive bomb and not following your ord into the ground 2 seconds later.

On the grounds of fairness, I agree. But its less realistic than the shortened GV icons. I mean if you see an aircraft coming in from the direction of an enemy base, and hes lining up for either a bomb run or a recon pass on you..... well lets just say the odds aren't too good that a friendly saved some ords after he hit the base.

It is very difficult to see them from an altitude that allows bombs to arm.

Hence the word "challenge."  ;)

The learning curve is steep, and that is one reason why the game is fun in it's own right. I wouldn't play it if it were too easy to win.

I go into SAPP mode and early in my dive I release the bomb to arm then reattach it to finish guiding it to target. Simply be off the throttle when you drop it the first time then throttle as necessary to stay close and reaquire the bomb.

Apparently nobody has a problem bombing me this tour - so clearly its a pilot issue and not the bomb.

8 Times bombed vs 64 times killed by a tank, seems bombs are working fine.

lol Butch I have been in a tank quite often this tour. I have not looked but I bet I have been killed more than I have killed in it. I have been bombed too. All part of not getting the tank up to alt I believe. :)

Butcher isn't the one whining about bombs taking too long to arm.  From my point of view...you should spend less time whining and spend more time improving your flying and fighting skills.
