Anyone have this or tried it? looks quite interesting with amazing graphics, was thinking of ordering it to download in the next few days while
I look over the MatrixGames site for something new to check out.

Reviews have been tepid. The combat is supposed to be decent, but the story and setting/environment are very generic.
Also, it is from EA...

Aw crap didn't see that, EA has been my #1 biggest enemy next to Ubisoft - ever since Silent Hunter 5 came out with that bs where if your
internet is disconnected it boots you from the game, talk about a way to burn $50 for nothing.
I've always liked the World of warcraft type games, except I rather have a single player mode type deal because one reason I didn't stick around in Warcraft is because I am not spending 4 hours in one dungeon and roll the dice for 1 piece of armor.
I started out with games like Ultima Underworld (the Abyss) and it really was awesome from the game play to teh story line.
Although without a manual or a "walkthrough" that game was a total pain in the ass!

It's actually quite a good game and a very good value for the number of game play hours. The game has over 200 hours of total game play with the main story taking about 30-50 hours to complete, which means there is around 150-170 hours of game play through side and faction quests. It's an open world, so you can cruise wherever you want (like Skyrim or any other open world RPG) and build your character as you wish.
The graphics are more of a high fantasy/cartoon style (WoW, Fable are good comparison examples) and rather nice and the art work is done by Todd Mcfarlane
Combat is very good, very fluid and easy to switch between melee, and range/magic (depending on what your primary and secondary weapons are). Combat is actually far better than the combat in Skyrim.
The story is also very well done, written by R.A. Salvatore as well as the universe lore.
With the majority of AAA titles only giving around 10-15 hours of game play, Kingdoms of Amalur is a great value and a good game.
ack-ack

I suggest you download the Demo. Thanks to this thread I did and spent most of this evening playing it. The demo gives you 45 minutes of playing time once you leave the tower you start in. It doesn't sound like much but I ended up spending over two hours in front of the computer before the time ran out.
I agree with Ack-Ack, the combat is light years a head of Skyrim. I'll probably end up buying this game.

Holy crap this game is simply beautiful, I decided I wanted a game with extreme graphics to test out my new card - and also I've always been a fan of RPGs (not world of warcraft).
The graphics, gameplay and storyline is well worth the money spent.
