Title: Concerned about Lusche
Post by: Tom5572 on February 14, 2012, 11:57:05 PM
In the time I have been on this BBS, Lusche has always been here. Now things are strangely quiet. Lusche, I hope you are ok.

For months Mr Escargot is gone. Then he comes back in time to run the numbers for 2011. Then he disappears and David Wales shows up. Scuzzy kicks Wales off and now both are gone...

Lusche is David Wales!!

I have an Intel MB and chipset combo.  The funny thing is I offered it to Davidwales, because he was also having computer woahs (I swear, I am not making this up... so terribly funny, that you guys will do anything to link every BBS thread to poor David.... and in this case, even I bit  :uhoh snails, whales and puppy dog tails all rhyme... but I still say that our beloved pie maker is sipping umbrella shaded drinks on a beach somewhere off grid).

A very kind gentleman, known to you all in AH, did me the biggest solid ever and sent me $$ important components for my current rig $$.

:salute  You know who you are sir, and I am always in awe of your generosity and doing my best to pass it on, as you suggested (not taking anything in return from me).

I think he was just making a point here.  I don't know what's going on in Lusche's life so I can't comment about that but I think Chewie is trying to say that if we all just took care of ourselves and stopped trying to take care of everyone else then this world might be a better place... or at least a more self-sufficient place.  I for one would rather teach a man to fish rather than to just give him a bite of sushi!

I probably get hounded ten times a week for donations for this or donations for that and the more they hound me the easier it is for me to say no.

Sounds more like chewie was a little butt hurt because people were so readily offering to donate hardware to Lusche and no one offered the same to chewie.  I seriously doubt chewie was trying to teach us a life lesson.

That comment made my head spin.

I don't know Lusche, except the rare ingame sighting, but I see on these boards all that he does with his stats and charts. Those do not put themselves together, and he does it because he wants to, and because others here love to see them. Not me, I can't do well enough to get ON a chart......

Anyone who knows Chewie, knows that he was  :neener: yankin' your chains.  ;)

Chewie, bro sorry to hear about the PC.  I have been there and it sucks.  In fact, the help in technical forums has been tremendous in bringing my machines back from being declared dead on a few occasions.  Anything that I can do bro, send me a PM.  The MB and Chipset offer is extended to you, however my specs on what runs AH2 are much slimmer than what others complain about.

As far as teaching a man to fish, you better have a mighty narrow stream to catch anything bare handed.   :bolt:  Okay, no more analogies.

IMHO, Snailman and Chewie, both fun guys to fly with and good for morale, but life sometimes has other plans for us.  I have just come back from a 5 mos. hiatus (thanks for not missing me - butt hurt ......  no!)

Bob,

Don't worry about not being on the chart, just work to beat the guys that are there  ;)  nuff said

All I'm saying is that if people would work hard to get what they want and stop counting on others to provide for them then things would be much better.

From what I've seen of Lusche on here he would be one of the exceptions.

I wasn't saying that donating is a bad thing but when every body is begging for help all of the time - well it just makes people want to give less.

sorry this isn't necessarily directed at you personally tigger, but this is so misguided is unbelievable...

How do you know Luche isn't working hard? Maybe that's why he hasn't responded? who knows? Maybe he works harder than all you who and insinuated this thought?

Why don't go fly to Germany and teach him how to 'work'? or better yet, why don't you go and offer him a job if you feel he isn't pulling his weight and relying on us to help him?

We don't know what happened, that is the problem.

Chewie gave options: Do I get a job or do I get donations.

I have no idea Chewie's intent or Lusche's situation though in general getting a job is very preferred to planning on donations.

Some people earned the respect, Lusche is one of them - I hope someone is driving distance from him or can exchange the $.

I did this to a player in Australia whose laptop broke, we pooled $600 to buy him a new one, the exchange rate etc and one of the members
delivered it by hand.

He'srobably playing different games, or playing under another name and doesnt want to be bothered. That or he needed a break. Also for a guy that age woman are notorious obstacles to things in life that really matter, like playing flight games. Either way he was an important part of the community. I cant see him dissapearing for good.

When I was out of work for over a year several, but particularily one well known BBs member (no, not Lushe), paid my subscription for six months despite my attempts to protest, so in return, even though I am still struggling paycheck to paycheck, I'd be willing to donate.  We'll call it paying it forward.

There are a few like that the key is to know whose getting the donation, for me its always been an out of the blue thing.

You talk to people and you know what goes on, its a small joy that can go a very long way especially if you've made friends.

I've done this,  I gave $100 to a member of my squad, he gave a notice to quit for financial reasons, but I believed him, and it AH is a community fisrt, and perhaps a game second???  Thats why I did it.

Agreed,I hope it's just s problem with his comp but one never knows!   On the other hand,he could be secretly working on a program that will flood the boards with so many graphs he'll never be asked or allowed to do another 1....... :devil

On a serious note, just my observation. He was a fixture, nearly day in and day out. Then he was gone for many months, I believe out of boredom. He came back for a month, killed everyone with ease and is gone again. If I had to guess he is looking for a bigger challenge. This game is still pretty challenging to me. I can only imagine how I would view it differently if it was like clubbing baby seals during lunch break.

I hope everything is ok.
In the Army is the "Chain of Concern" for spouses/friends to keep informed of someone's well-being.
It would be nice for the Community to do something like that.
You don't have to give everyone in AH your info, just 1-2 of the people you trust as your friends.
It's painful to see a person here one day, then never heard from again.
I had that happen with a good friend - Airmess.
Where ever you are Alex  :salute my friend, you are missed.
I fly with your skins always.

Actually it's absolutely the opposite. I'm kind of embarrassed and feel very uncomfortable with this kind of public attention towards my person.  :o
In fact, when I logged in and read this thread my first thought was to log out and never to get back. But they have told me than normal people do not act this way... yes, I'm really that different  :uhoh

Anyways, for the most part it's not my rather obsolete computer that kept me away (though having to set up my system twice in short time did contribute to it a lot). Let's just say... life is trying to kick me around a lot, and I'm trying to kick back, which didn't left much time and even less energy for AH (not necessarily a bad thing considering the amount of time I 'wasted' here).

Still, I hope to be able to check out the recent changes (Storch, icon ranages, 88), but first I would have to get my act together and finish the Stats, and even more importantly a few things that I have promised to some folks here a long time ago.  :(

 :salute all.
