needs to go, yes? I think it would add realism to have "hard" friendly planes. The friendly buildings don't let me fly through. What do you think?

It would add even more realism to only get one life too.

The continuous explosions as people tried to spawn to take off would get old pretty quickly.
-
I was thinking that it would loosen up the hordes a bit. Also this would apply to 3 v. 1 dogfights, etc. It would add another peril besides kill-shooting.
-
It would definitely be a game changer. On the one hand, I kind of like the idea. On the other hand, 2 words: griefer ramming. As it stands now, about the only thing a griefer can attempt to do is get you to killshoot yourself. This would open up a whole nother level of dweebery. Probably a good portion of the reason it's not on right now.
Wiley.

The only thing this would really change is make take offs and landing extremely difficult because most people that play aces high are not taught to fly properly and are extremely unorganized.
-
Spawn 2 planes at the same time, boom your dead. Some noob think you are an enemy boom your dead. You flight leader warped a bit? boom your dead.
no thanks.
-
And what about the griefer who intentionally rams your plane because he doesnt like you, or he thinks its funny.
-
Friendly Collisions would be a great success to add after take off if you were in the FSO or SEA
The mods would have the ability to turn them on and off.
In that situation it would definitely be more realistic and challenging.
I am thinking about doing a couple Realism Missions if anyone would be interested in it.
-
Would never work, and would be detrimental to game play.
-
Friendly collisions result in babies; you're not ready to be a parent, are you? Please, think of the babies.

It is possible, yes. It wouldn't work well due to lag; you would have guys collide just by flying in close formation, not to mention the rearms. Turning it on and off for rearms would be unmanageable, as squads would be rearming while others are still fighting.
-
I like the idea for the SEA or FSO only because it is more realistic, but its just not practical for the game we play. Like its been stated already, even with a group of responsible and considerate players it would only take one warp to do what the enemy is trying to do. How would you take off in a mission with three dozen other players moving as one mass (not to mention the lag) without it turning into a flying demolition derby?
The only parameter I can think of to make this reasonable is if friendly collisions were automatically turned on/off if the aircraft were above/below a certain level, respectively.

They are already an option in arena settings. Just set Friendlymidairs to 1.

Yes they do. And as I stated earlier, it would be difficult if not nearly impossible to implement fairly. The only thing that might make it possible is if no collisions happen if wheels are on the ground. Even then it would make it very difficult during group takeoffs, formation flying and landing.
-
I don't want to even think of what would happen when trying to fly bombers in formation with collisions on. :uhoh
-
Bad idea. There are already enough whines about the collision model the way it is.
-
No.
-
How about a new collision model above 50ft AGL (or another low altitude)? This would "clean up" the runway for takeoff and still let GVs spawn on top of each other.
-
I'd settle for an enemy collision model that involed two planes every time. Most frustrating thing in game for me is to see the text buffer tell me I collided with a guy when his buffer doesn't tell him the same thing. Either two planes hit or no planes hit.

To quote many before me... "If you don't know how the collision model works, don't post about it"
You can hit his plane on your screen, while the other guy avoids you on his screen

Wish granted. It's already 2 planes or no planes. What you think you want is 4 planes or no planes.
