Title: Game crashes
Post by: AKShrddr on February 29, 2012, 03:59:49 PM
Is there a way to keep the game from crashing. Or will I have to just reinstall the game. Thx for any help.

It depends on what is causing the crashes, and how it is crashing. More details are needed.

Does the game lock up?
Does it load and then crash when you log in?
Does it crash before you even get the game started?
Does it crash when your trying to land a spit?

The more iformation you can give the better the suggestions for a fix.

It crashes after logging right before the game comes up.

That sounds to me like some corrupted files, but I'm only guessing. I would try deleting the video8.cfg file in the settings fold of the game. restart the game. It will put in a new video8 file. I would start there because it's the easiest, and because you said the picture comes up big.

If that doesn't work I'd make a copy of the "skins""settings""ahterrains""sites" folders from the game folder, uninstall the game, remove the desktop icon for the game, and then download a fresh copy and install it. Once the new install is up and running you can copy the folders you saved to the new game files to get all the terrains and setting back that you had.

Good luck!

If you are still having troubles, a DXDIAG output would be helpful.

Nice to have the DXDIAG, but what problem are you having?  Please be very specific.

When I log on to an arena, the game crashes.  Window pops up saying "aceshigh.exe has stopped working  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"

I have uninstalled game, then re-installed.  Same problem. And it does NOT work offline either.

I need to see the rest of the DXDIAG.

Basically you are saying the game will not run at all, other than the main menu.

Are you still running version 2.27 Patch 2?  If so, you need to go ahead and grab 2.27 Patch 3 and try it.

I have uninstalled, re-downloaded newest version, and re-installed Still crashes as soon as i try to log into an arena or to run game offline. :bhead :bhead

Spanky, try renaming the games "settings" folder.  I still would like to see the rest of the DXDIAG output.  Particularly, the "sound" device section.
Title: Re: Game crashes
Post by: SpankyMc on March 11, 2012, 08:59:57 PM
I changed the "settings" folder's name to "settingsbak," restarted game, still crashes.  I sent the full DXDIAG to you via email because it was too long to fit in here.  See Bob Gilkey's email.

It is so fricking frustrating to have had a game working, then all of a sudden a patch to fix problems renders my entire computer unable to run the game.  Especially after uninstalling and re-installing the friggen thing so many times.  I had made sure to turn off all antivirus, antispyware, programs before downloading and reinstalling.

Been almost a week now.  Getting real tired of paying for a subscription for something I can't use any longer.
