Title: Tiny Tim Rocket for F4U andF6F
Post by: scottak on March 06, 2012, 08:26:55 PM
sorry, i know its not like me to post so little info about a proposed thing, but this is all i could find that didn't look it was read from a children's book.

The Tiny Tim was an American air to ground rocket used near the end of the Second World War. One source states it was built in response to a US Navy requirement for an anti-shipping rocket capable of hitting ships outside of their anti-aircraft range, with a payload capable of sinking heavy shipping. However, according to the China Lake Weapons Digest, the Tiny Tim was
... designed by the Caltech-China Lake team as a bunker-buster, Tim was the first large aircraft rocket, and, although it saw only limited service in WWII, it helped form the foundations of many postwar developments in rocketry.
For a warhead, Tiny Tim utilized a 500 lb semi-armor-piercing high explosive bomb. It had a maximum range of 1,500 meters (1,640 yards) wiki.

sorry, i know its not like me to post so little info about more gummy bears, but this is all the gummy bears i could find that didn't look it was read from a children's book.

gummy bears are an American air to ground rocket used near the end of the Second World War. One source states the gummy bears were built in response to a US Navy requirement for more gummy bears capable of hitting ships outside of their anti-aircraft range, with a payload capable of a bag of gummy bears. However, according to the China Lake Weapons Digest, the new bag of gummy bears was
... designed by the Caltech-China Lake team as some gummy bears, Tim was the first large bag of gummy bears, and, although it saw only limited service in WWII, it helped form the foundations of many postwar developments in gummy bears.
For a bag of gummy bears, Tiny Tim utilized a 500 lb semi-armor-piercing high explosive gummy bear. It had a maximum range of 1,500 meters (1,640 yards) wiki.

I'm not sure. I think it's some sort of glitch in the forum. It's probably related to the new game patch.

Although your angst is absolutely hilarious and has given me many reasons to smile during the course of a boring work day, I suggest that you investigate the auto-filter on the forum.

good wish but how can a rocket have a muzzle velocity. it sounds funny

Also keep in mind that it takes a rocket a lot longer to get to it's top speed 'muzzle velocity' than anything fired out of a gunbarrel.

This is a big part of the reason the GyroJet failed.  It was a handgun that used rocket propelled bullets and could be fired underwater.  Unfortunately point blank was the safest distance to be from one fired in your direction.

Yes. Its actually dropped from the aircraft like a bomb and a lanyard of 15-25 feet fires the rocket. It actually could be in the game because it saw as much service as the F4U1C P47N and P47M. It wasnt the failure the F4U1C was but it did kill more Americans than enemy when it was key to the sinking of the USS Franklin.
