it seems to me like no one cares about how good they are, just how many kills they land.
to me "being good" means you can hold your own in a fight. being good doesnt mean dive from a 10k alt advantage and kill some unsuspecting noob 5 times and RTB.
I'd much rather be stuck in a tight 1 on 1 fight then land 50 kills any day.
what is your objective in the game?

Back when I still played, it was all about the fight. Didn't matter if I lost or not, as long as it was a good fight, and kept me on the edge of my seat.
I had finally started to get "wow, you're pretty good in that K4" messages, but now after about 6 months without anything but shooting at offline drones, even the AI fighters in the offline mission are giving me fits.

Today it was running GV supplies for teh tank tards. Yesterday i just resupplied bases for 3 hours. Tomorrow i'll probably go bomber hunting :joystick:

jug i did that for a few months, i mostly came back because i like my squadmates and have fun talking to them on my one or two nights a week that i do fly.

I love the sky this is as close as I get for now, plus my ears don't pop in it.

It is my stress release from driving truck all week and dealing with idiots on the road.
What I can't do to them I can do to the red guys. Ohh trust me at times I wish I had a quad 50 in my truck, especially in NJ, NY and Conn.

To me, it's about that "gotcha" moment. Every last one of us has had it. It's that split second before you pull the trigger after fighting for position. Mentally, you already know that you have the shot. Then, with a smooth pull, you send out a short burst that does EXACTLY what you intended it to do.
I also enjoy the heck out of being able to fly with my dad. That's priceless to me.

Having fun with the game, laughing on Vox with all the crazies :bolt: and being used for target practice by better players :banana:

Flying my spitfire then every now and again getting caught up in a death defying multi-con engagement, if they are German planes more to the enjoyment.
Then watching the last one, lets say mr Doom's 190 for example. Panic and stick stir like a champion waiting and watching until the moment to fire is there, passing it up knowing he is squirming like a fish out of water until he crashes hopelessly into a tree or the sea.
Good times. ;)

To find new and unusual ways to enjoy the sim.
The weasels who can't drive any further than the easy mode spawn points are the same unimaginative cheesheads who can't make an important decision without being told what to decide.

I have two favorite things. One is a great one-on-one fight with an evenly matched opponent. Unfortunately, this is rare for me as I'm a below average pilot and people of my skill level seem to stick to the Spit XVI and La-7. I love a great duel between the Yak-9U and P-51D, for example.
Two is getting guns on target and arriving home safely. Even if I only get an assist, I have fun. Plus, the more damaged my a/c is the better. I once flew a full sector and made a three-point landing in an A-20 missing both ailerons, it was one of the most memorable and enjoyable sorties I've ever had. That, and passing out on final approach and finding yourself stopped on the pavement. :)

For me it's the historical engagements provided through scenarios, FSO, snapshots, TDIWW2, etc.
Failing that, landing a good tater hit in the MA's. Love to watch that puff of orange fire then the after effects. :devil

I enjoy getting into the fight with someone, trading advantages and disadvantages until one of us is dead. Unfortunately these fights are become more rare since more people are worried about their score.
Still, I would pay the $15 a month just to sit in the tower and listen to vox. The community is what keeps me here :salute

Alot of it, is more bs'in in the tower. I lost my license years ago, and this was a way to stay with friends. Most of this game is about 50% excellent fun. 25% awefulness, and 25% is ripping someones head off for stealing my kill. But hey, Its only a game. :cheers:

Absolutely. I logged on for about 3 hours one night and flew maybe one or two sorties

I remember one time I was going on a bombing raid, and had 5"er start shooting me. I was gonna leave the damn thing alone, but for some reason it just royaly pissed me off. I re-uped a B-24 with 4 2000lb bombs and sank her.

every workday I tell them how many cv's I sank at the staff meeting. after all we are supposed to give an example of safety procedure :).

The thrill of aerial combat.
The strategy, the timing, the moves.
9 times (or more) out of 10 I get shot down. But every once in awhile I do it right; sometimes I even manage to land.
The AH Community.
The people that have given me advice on everything from ACM to how do I get my XP Pro down to 18 processes before I log on.
People that have become friends, people that I fly with, people that shoot me down, the occasional ones I shoot down.
The chatter on the country channel. I never go to 200.
And unlimited supply of P38s to fly, to auger, to shred, etc......................
The sum is more than the total of parts.

AH is all about that 1v1 that lasts for 10 minutes and then pingpingpingping - boom. "You have been picked."
:D But seriously, any fight that lasts over 1 minute is a good fight, regardless of what happens at 31 seconds.
2+v1 are also tons of fun if they decide to come down with you but just dodging 5 streams of bullets has a fun factor of its own.

Multi on multi combat in a wildly unpredictable situation. Attempting to take control of airspace away from the enemy against their will while surviving.

To have fun.. fly.. fight.. any tactic that keeps you alive seems valid to me.. most were during WWII... :salute

Well back in the early 90's it was all about haing a good time with the squad but since I have been back I don't know , seems to have lost it's Mojo to me .

Aces High to me is all about FUN! Whether it's bombing a field or strat target, defending a field with GV or field guns, using ship guns, capturing or resupplying with goon, M3 or LVT - about the only thing I don't do is fly fighters, because I tend to spin out and lawn dart most of the time. :D During the last few years, I only played the scenarios but as they are becoming less frequent during Euro timezones I am now rediscovering MA play and loving it. :cool:
