Title: Supertankers as Personal Yachts
Post by: AKKuya on March 14, 2012, 03:11:34 AM
I like mthrockmor's question about turning them into a cheap aircraft carrier.  I think the best use for them is a personal yacht.

With lots of remodeling, they could be the new wave of billionaire spending.  Alot of skiers could be pulled by one of those behemoths.

The fuel that you would spend on it is worth more than the ship.

Not if you leave it at port like most yacht owners do.  :D

They could be turned into a sailing vessel.  Imagine 15 large and tall sailing masts.

Naaa Party Submarine all the way. Trips to the ocean floor for 2000 folks. Stay on the ocean floor for a month at a time.

Another idea... Port-o-Island sail off somewhere, set her on the bottom where her deck is still above water and play.

For when you're 5,000 miles from the nearest shore, and just need a drag strip, right?  I hear next year they're comming out with one that has outriggers so you can also have a proper 1-mile long track/cource.  Crash baricades etxra.

Dichotomy, at the bottom of your comment you have a link to AH players that have passed in real life. That is pretty cool!

I'm going to post these on the other threads as well. Clearly not supertankers. Clearly outside the box. A picture is worth a thousand words.

This is not about recreating a Nimitz. The discussion is about power projection. A CV is nothing but a mobile airfield. Who knows.

Hey guys, I've come here to settle an argument with some of my friends.  I attended a three week boating school last summer, and my liscence says that I can be the skipper of any boat, from sunfish to supertanker while inland.  It also limits me to a 7m boat out to 2 nautical miles out to sea.  Both of these require adult supervision.

Here is my question; if my mom/dad/adult and I went to the harbor and rented a boat for the family to have a party on, would I be allowed to be its skipper?

Specific details (Important to the discussion, but boring to read)
I am a minor
I am a citizen of the United States
I attended this school in Poland
My rank is zeglarz jachtowy, or in English, yacht sailor/yachtsman

-Penguin

Problem solved.

Dicho, since I've been migrating things over I thought I'd jump in real quick and let ya know that link (http://vbf18.wetpaint.com/page/Fallen+Family+%26+Friends) will be dead soon. I'm moving over to a new host, the new page for that is Here (http://omegamcserver.enjin.com/rip). Still some work to do, but trying to keep tabs on two different hosts is more than I feel like doing. :)
