Title: TrackIR locking up
Post by: StrtDoc on March 14, 2012, 12:14:42 PM
Howdy,

For the last couple of days, when I enter the game, TIR is working fine and I can look around in the tower fine.  The problem starts when I get in a plane on the runway, TIR locks in the forward view and the only way I can look around is to go back to using number pad.  Even after leaving the plane, and once back in the tower, TIR is locked in forward view and I can no longer look around with it unless I re-log.

I have tried moving head positions, changing TIR "center", and have Alt-Tab to minimize the game and gone into the TIR software and it is registering that I am moving my head. It appears to only be in the game.

Any help is appreciated.

i had a similar expirience happen a while ago. what i found was that i had one of my anolog views (i.e. move forward/back move left/right) programed to an anolog wheel on my stick. the wheel was bad so it was spiking and not staying centered which was blocking the inputs from my TracIR. umapped the wheel and everything went back to normal...

good luck

I would start by renaming the Settings folder to see if it is something you mapped messing it up.

You can then deleted the new one, and rename the old one back to have your old settings.

At the TrackIR download page they have posted this message:

• Note: If problems are encountered when using Windows XP with ATI video cards, try version 4.1.038 instead.

This may not be your issue.

are you using any programs that free up processes before you play (alacrity, game booster et.c)? I had a similar issue and it turned out that I had accidentally shut down a process that Tir needed.
