What player do you think it is when you see a certain plane?
I see a Spitfire VIII - Midway
I see a FM2 - surfinn
109G6 - Debrody
Tempest - Bruv
P47D25 - Alfamega
F6F - Greebo or Humboldt
109E - Dolby
P38 - Twinboom
At least when I find myself in a decent fight with one of these planes, I instantly think "Aw crap, ___ is going to kill me, I just know it." And 90% of the time, I'm right. :)

P-38 =Shuffler Didn't fear as 38's most were somewhat easy to take down until got owned by one.
ME 262= Grizz when he played often
Mostly treat them as a threat unless they start shooting at 1.5k :headscratch:

A Ki84 down low with four or five cons around him is usually Ink or nrshida.
A 190A8 that zooms past a bunch of airborn cons to vulch the runway or shoot field ack guns is usually Doom.

KI61 - Tongs is a beast in this plane.
109G6 - Debrody.....if you see that Hungarian tail, you are probably in some trouble.
F4U - MtnMan can do things in those bent wing birds ive never seen anyone else do.
P51 - Steve when he was still around. he flew it smart and stayed above the fight, but make no mistake, when he got down and dirty he could sure whoop some arse.
190D9 - vDALLAS somehow has a faster Dora than anyone in the game. while we all know that he won't actually fight anybody, ever, he sure does know how to "extend", and i suppose in some circles this is considered great skill :aok
F6F - Greebo or Irishone
this may or may not be just a phase for me, i have fallen in love with this aircraft. Greebo is the real F6F guy, he's head and shoulders above the rest in the Hellcat.

Because there's spit16s everywhere. They're not rare enough to become well known to a certain player or have a skin that no one uses.
I fly the K4 and while it is a popular ride, I've only seen 2 people so far who uses the snow camo that I use all the time.

Whenever I see a 109, I pray its a G6 piloted by Debrody. Once I see that Hungarian tail, I know for a fact that I am going to have one heck of a fun fight and call for the 1v1. :salute
Ki61- I always assume is Tongs
F6F- I'm terrified it might be Greebo
A group of P38's above the fight- 80th Headhunters, and we're all going to die
F4U4- I see IrishOne flying (and killing me) a lot

When I was a Nit, every single Corsair I ran into was guaranteed to be Shiv, followed by two turns and a quick trip to the tower.
Since being a Bishie, every single Corsair I run into is guaranteed to be SFOX, followed by two turns and a quick trip to the tower.
Except that today instead of him, I got crucified by JOKER a bunch of times.
Doesn't anyone who sucks fly that plane? I hate Corsairs. :furious :cry

P51 = to few good sticks to name, I would go with Alfamega who puts up a fight every time

If you see one where it's unlikely to have lifted from a carrier, you can expect it to be one of the guys who actually likes it and is good in it. In carrier battles, you see plenty of average sticks in it. It's a plane kind of like the 38s, a lot of the guys that fly it are very familiar with it and can do very well in it.
If I see an F4U that saddles up and just sits there no matter what I do until he's close enough to put an efficient burst into me, I expect it to be Mtnman.
If it's an M jug that actually wants to fight high, I expect Messiah, but last night found WWhiskey who was more than a handful.

I determine who might be in a certain plane by looking at the other players in the same area.
Then I generally know who I'm fighting within 2 or 3 moves, before anybody is shot down.

F4U-1 If it comes down from a great height, it's SFOX, if it dumps flaps and turns with my Hurri, it's Specs
G-6 if it's got the Hungarian tail, Debrody (and usually a very quick trip to the tower for me)

mixed bag,
its usually the pilots i have never heard of that fight, most of the 'top pilots' don't fight because I suppose they don't really see the MA as a place to fight, but to farm. There are exceptions, but they remain exceptions.
Its smart flying for sure, to keep alt, speed, and an escape - and to use all this. But it really does not take a lot of game sense to stay alive and fly defensively. And this is probably what I dislike most about the 51 and Dora. . . that they can almost be expected to dive and run. But for me, it is when you are twisting and turning and stalling that some real skill shows - and I respect pilots that do that and the shame is that there are some pilots who I know can do that, but choose not to. With that in mind -
Ink in his 84 is a sight to see
Broady in his G6 is impressive
Irish in his A5 is always a loopy experience
Midway in his spit 8 is a lot of fun and a good fight
You can spot Greebo in his F6F from the first merge
Hammer in the F4U is a good fight to the deck
there are others, Krup and perd in their 109s, sukov in his 152, twintail in the 38. . . all difficult to fight, but for the most part, they honor a fight if you can survive the first 30 seconds.

This is very true. Even if i have engaged Rocky as soon as he figures out hes going to lose (turn 2) he immediatly dives to the deck and runs until you either break off or are outside 6k. Only then will he re-engage you when he has his altitude advantage back.
